So u mean to say that one can only challenge ideas through books and theories and NOT practical? Weird huh? How can we challenge ideas when we know nuts about practical? What i meant was that our education system in my day was only focus on tested and tried material and not willing to break new barriers which i think is not good as it stifles creativity and free flow of ideas

It has failed us in certain aspects,but done well for other aspects eg raising a generation of muggers who learn thru rote learning and are bound to have good memory from memorising all those facts and figures from the schoolbooks,ahahaha

Knowledge is power and power is money.Just remember George Santanaya's words, 'Knowlegde and knowledge alone, gives the divine right to rule.' To really facilitate learning, we should treat education not as a tool nor a key to a better life in a materialistic milieu but rather, as a source of wisdom, this way, knowledge can be absorbed more readily by every individual. Bear in mind that we work to become, not to acquire, so said Confucius.

Education is a way to improve my morale. Good grades are high morale indicators.
Education is a phase that tells me that I am not prepared to work for a living.
Insitutionalized Education..in the end gives me a paper with my name on it. It is a powerful morale indicator.
Knowledge comes from experience, experience comes from many years of work. Knowledge benefits a few, work benefits many. -

Education is important, because knowledge is better than ignorance, and wisdom is better than foolishness, but in the end all meet the same fate, both the educated and the uneducated. As such, education is not the most important thing in life, just one of the things that is good to have.
Education does not necessarily make you happier, because the more you know and the more you comprehend of the things that go on in this sad world, the more you see that it is all going downhill, and the more things you worry about. It is quite depressing at times.
However, education widens your horizons and increases your choices and opportunities, gives you more freedom to think and to act, and equips you to to better deal with the complexities of life, and in fast-paced singapore, where nothing stays the same for very long, this is especially important.
Singaporeans tend to take a narrow view of education, one that views it only as formal institutionalised education for the purpose of obtaining a paper certificate, but really, education is the whole of life and what you learn from all your experiences. There is certainly a lot of pressure on students to mug for exams, but good education is about more than gaining the specific skills useful for passing exams, it should broaden and exercise the mind, give greater understanding, and develop the character.
