guys i really need your help.over the past ten weeks of bmt, i have struggled and cried a lot just to pass out of there.i am having my block leave and am having nightmares everyday about sispec.i really do not want to go there!!during bmt i have fallen sick countless of times and reported sick quite a few times as well.what i want to know is how do i know i am doomed to be in sispec.i just scraped past my ippt, failed my soc test in 18:05 minutes, got 24 out of 44 for my range, did not go for any sit test as i was sick, am excused from throwing grenades and explosives by the medical staff at cmpb, talked to my oo and platoon sergeant about my problems and even humiliated myself by crying in front of them, not on good terms at all with any platoon mate and has a lousy peer appraisal.the worst thing is that i did not get any interview from any unit.the strange thing is that the mp, armour , infantry ,artillery are the ones that gave interviews.i hope sincerely that someone can help me as i do not want to humiliate and isolate myself anymore.

judging by all the things you did....I don't think you're going to SISPEC....

nan, dun worry...i think you'd be alright in some logistic place. They are not that mean to people who really can't take NS life too well, but it has to see whether there's any vacancy for you when you pass out then.

Say, is it possible for someone to refuse going to Sispec?

when you first enter sispec, the PWO or PC will ask whether if anyone wants to opt out or ooc, or have any long term status.
If you are permanently excused for anything.. like soc or ippt. out you go immediately.
furthermore... if you voice out that you dun want to be in sispec, they will try to get you out asap. i think what they want are soldiers who have the pride and desire to finish the course. not some half-motivated slacker who demoralises the whole pl... -
Maybe to used to be like that (in NCO times) but now, with the decreasing number of guys going to NS (aging population), SISPEC takes in anyone. As long as you got a Diploma, got chance liao, even poly dropout will kena SISPEC/OCS.
If everyone is so pride and honored to get in, why do you think the phrase "SISPEC=Suffer In Silence Plus Extra Confinements" will be made?
OCS = Only clowns/coward Survive ......it's true in some case. Heard many cadets "Sah Kah" or backstab their fellow comrades to gain popularity and thus have better life in the course. It's a farking "Office Politics" in NS. -
Yup. U r partially rite. It's common fact that if u have the educational qualifications,esp if u r in the 'A' level scholar companies, u r most prob going to sispec/ocs. Well, what I said abt the initial screening is true. If u express the wish to get out of sispec on the first day, they will try to get you out ASAP. and i can say, not many pple really try to ooc on their first day.
Most that get into ocs, really have performed well during their bmt. They usually exhibit excellent command and control, as well as outstanding leadership qualities. Abt office politiks, well.. it exists everywhere... not only in the army, u juz gotta accept it.
Hmmm.. the Suffer in silence part... i think it's juz some stupid acronym to scare new trainees. But really... it's not the getting in part. Pple hate to get into sispec. but as u go along, you find that it's ermm... the pride's juz there. granted, it's not fun to apply camo on ur face -first thing in the morning, EVERYday, and then charge left and rite the whole Afternoon... but I think that after it's accomplished, you do feel it's something. whatever.. bmt is the most FUN!

hi all out there.....juz wanna ask abt signals...want to knoe wats it abt and do wat 1.....coz i am currently a poly student going to sign on the sponsorship and wana ask anyone here is a successful applicant of the sign on? coz i went to the inteview alreadi then everyting is alrite excpet the guy say tat chances are low coz they want results b-c range 1 whereas my results are c-d range,,,wat are my chances of succesful?

Finish BMT b4 thinkin about signing on ba. If u really need sponsorship for school, go to banks for loan. I think ARMY should be the last thing u go to.

Ya, agree with shotgun, go through BMT first before thinking about sign on, better still, finish BMT then goto unit and see how the Army works. If you are that desperate for money, sign on Air-force or Navy. At least they treat you better than Army (better than seeing green everyday). -
Funny, some of the Navy people I know seems to think that Army is like a school camp, and air force a summer holiday picnic. Police Force, you work 9 to 5. heh.

Recce Scout maybe, hahaha. Well, its depend on the intake of sispec! I've a BMT sectionmate who always like to hesitate in doing thing ended up at scout. If you are the "sway kuang" person, doesn't mean failed SOC mean you would not go. Anyway, I heard that prior to enlisting, the posting is already fixed. Unless something happen.
