Do our speed traps even work???

Does anyone gives a shit about them anymore??? I may not be the most popular person by saying this but besides helping people adhere to speed limits, they are actually a good source of income for the government.

Perhaps the question asked should be "How accurate is the speedometer in our vehicles ?".
Many times the speedometer is either 10 to 20 kmh faster or slower then what the Traffic Cop (on his bike) or the Speed Camera will indicate.
The other question we should asked is how relevant are some of the strategies and equipment used in the management of traffic on our express ways.
The stationary Speed Trap Cameras that are located along most express ways are the cause of the traffic jam along the express ways, and defeat the purpose of having these express ways.
How often does one see a speeding car suddenly slamming his brakes to slow down for about 150 meters before and after the Speed Trap Camera, only to speed off again after the "danger zone" to the speeding car ?
Express ways are the arteries of a city, and traffic should be kept moving at a safe speed as determined by the traffic flow.
The sooner the driver gets to his destination, the thinner the traffic flow will be. The purpose of the express ways is to get the traveller quickly to his destination in the safest possible way.
The arbitrary speed of 60 kmh applied for all roads, UNLESS otherwise indicated, is ridiculous - as it will require cars to be constantly changing gear or keeping the gear at either the 2nd or 3rd shift position.
Traffic Cops in their BMW or VOLVO Highway Patrol Cars or BMW Motor Bikes, should ensure that the heavier and slower commercial vehicles keep to the Left most lanes, and keeping the two lanes on the right for light and faster vehicles.
Any vehicle that stays in the lead position - in front of a string of cars - for more then TWO Kilometers, should be given a ticket for "Road Hogging".
With good policing of road users on the Express Ways, we should be able to improve the driving habits of the impatient and frustrated drivers, as well as maintaining a good safe speed for the driving pleasure of everyone. -
