i think this article brings up many uncomfortable truths that many has been forced to face in recent years... economic restructuring, recession, increased competition, changing economic climate, etc, etc...
and i am seriously tired of the gov't and its endless talk. its basically a case of cover-backside mentality. totally irresponsible. "no more iron ricebowl", " gov't needs to let in more F.Ts even though u have no jobs", "it is not the gov't job to provide u with lifetime employment"...
quite a bizarre case cos they were anxious to flaunt economic success as a point to legitimise harsh measures and score points in elections during good times... now, they say its not their problem...
and i agree with the point that life sciences and all that jazz will not provide the same number of jobs as the manufacturing sector. even if it does, it won't be hiring the same type of workers and massive re-training will be required.
maybe enterpreneurship IS the way out... anybody got a good business idea?
