They clean their rifles so that in times of war they will do the same and therefore won't end up having to use stones to try and stop their enemies because the rifles are so dirty they cannot be fired.Originally posted by Heartlander:Besides cleaning rifles and polishing boots, what else the NSmen learn from playing hide and seek in the tropical forest?
we got lots of thinking soldiers... that is why there is so many geng king in the army.Originally posted by Heartlander:Besides cleaning rifles and polishing boots, what else the NSmen learn from playing hide and seek in the tropical forest?
It may be high time SAF revamping its training and produce somebody who could win an Afghan war without dropping a bomb! Singapore is small and it is impossible for it to wage a war like the Americans did! So the only survival skill is to fight and win a war without any conventional hardwares, and believe me if Osama bin Laden could brought the Americans to their knees, SAF should outsmart him to produce some world class tacticians and strategists who can beat the Americans and Russians to win a war in Afghanistan without testing a bomb and make Singapore proud!
Just imagine that a few plane tickets and a knife could wage a war of some sort, those hide and seek games, those precious hours, those flashy warplanes and those conventional war strategies may be rendered obsolete in the aftermath of Sept 11th! SAF should be looking to more thinking soldiers or training more world class strategists than playing with those old outdated toys

errr....actually.....Originally posted by Shotgun:I feel that the SAR-21 is really one of the best rifles in the world right now.
Then again, heartlander was probably comparing it to the US OICW, which would make the SAR-21 look like rather.... primitive.
fren of mine from 6sir used the weapon. says its heavier. and the laser aiming device, go river crossing once, come out of the water and the aiming goes way off. my csm was from siw and he sez the weapon is not balanced, ie, it is heavier behind and lighter in front, unlike the m16. some more the various parts of the weapon are not as interchangeable as the m16.Originally posted by Raisin:wats so bad abt the sar21 other than the fragile scope?
Anyway do u ppl tink earplugs are practical in a real war?
this is exactly wat ST Kinetics is trying to find out lor. dats why you dont see it in bmt yet. the units using it are the ones testing it.Originally posted by Shotgun:Perhaps thats one thing that ST Tech Missed out when designing the SAR-21, Ruggedness. You guys make it sound as though the SAR 21 is damm fragile and would break like a dry brance.
I the ultimate test for a rifle, would be combat. Being banged around, dropped here, wet there, mud splashed over etc etc. Is the SAR-21 rugged enough? I've heard storys about the SiG-552 being dipped into mud, fished out, and fired straight, without cleaning... can the SAR -21 do that?
Someone enlighten me plz.
Funny...I've always enjoyed range, be it in BMT or unit life. Its a rare chance to go about doing something which we don't normally get to do as a civilian, and in NS, its a chance to get away from the drudgery or daily life. Of course, being a specialist and therefore not exactly having to live with the same kind of disciplinary rules as the enlistees does help...hehe...but that doesn't explain why I like range in BMT...I just think its funOriginally posted by sakaratulz:toking abt guns....i long time haven't ease spring squeeze trigger...( hope reservist can keng like last time)
Agree...espeically when you can only miss 2 shots with 8 shots to go for your marksmanship. It is more exciting then listening to the radio to check your Toto and 4D IMHO.Originally posted by Shotgun:Shooting is fun when you are really striving to improve your score
