Hi,
I am a layman when it comes to law.
However, recently I came to know of the libel law and it's oppressive nature. From what I know the onus is placed on the defendant to prove that he is innocent and will be pronounced
guilty if he fails to completely convince the judge.
That this law is adopted from the Brits who were against some political expression or something like that.
Nonetheless, I do not see the rationale for this law. Am I missing soomething?
The law is still relevant. Its the way its being applied thats nothing short of ludicrous.
Actually I think my topic may be a little mis leading.
Do you know how it works?
The legal structure has its roots in the old English legal system. if you trace the history of the system back a few centuries, you will find that it was designed to protect landlords, and that has not changed since. In other words, the little guy is screwed right from the start.
No wonder the 'Landlords' has the advantage of using it to dispose of any Opposition, with its liberal and statregic use of this law.
With an 'OMNIPOTENT' presence in all spheres of activities within the confines of an Island, the use of this Law will allow the Landlord to suppress any dissenting voice.
In those days, you did not even need to use law. You simply had to get the backing of the Church to order a quick burning.
