a borderless world?

i was watching this sci-fi anime recently.
there was this guy from a war torn area, imagine africa. someplace really backward. his family migrated to china when he was young, but when he grew up he went back to his country to help develope the space industry.
he finally managed to finish the product and went to test it in space and from up there he said this.from space, all you see is earth, you don't see boundaries lines and countries.

Yes, I believe the world will be better without borders, weapons and people with bad intentions but it's hard lah when there's greed and jeolousy.

It's different mah. Having one govn means all will speak same language, same currency and everyone will help anyone cause there's no different nationality. haha, not communist lah...That was under one ruler but what I'm talking about is a govn where there's voting and such. I would love to see the day the world unites as one. But until there is a reason to do so, do you think the richer countries will go all out to help the poorer ones?
I think its more important to aspire for greed to be overshadowed by compassion and selfless-ness, then to hope for a borderless world. -
A borderless world?
Unless you are refering to the implications of free technological, food resources rationing, medical breakthroughs and the free diffusion of education from knowledge holders to students, the notion of a borderless world might appear as a futuristic haven goal for people today to work towards.
In reality however, how often does beautiful ambitions like those above score amidst the reality that we know?
Living in this world that we know today - a world that is still being guarded and protected by the existence of borders, we still see miniture scales of genocides killings such as those of Rwanda, Bosnia or Serbs in just the recent decade.
We see six millions North Koreans dying of hunger, and approximately ten million Africans straving to death even as we speak.
Millions of others still live in improvished conditions, sometimes with the lack of sanitary water source and sufficient. And needless to say, I believe I need not even go further into the percentage of population segment whom have not had the opportunity of Education.
To have a borderless world now or even in the new future is thus something that is so far streched that even I do not have an appropriate phrase to describe.
True, we have the internet today, which may be described prehaps as the most iconic example of a borderless world in connectivity at this point in time.
However just as we can see certain big names such as 'Mikerosofe' or 'Yaboo' dominating the scene, my question is -
Will we not see individuals, parties, or even commercial organizations dominating a very true and real practical reality just as the Game Theory had evolved for the our little Internet creation?
Within all the fundamental construct of Man, we have to confess that we all have a place within our hearts where Greed and Intolerance does exist.
Hence forth, like all other pheonomena in Nature, we need one another to counter-balance one another to hold each other in place and check.
To have among us, a borderless world, that in itself is not exactly a very difficult dream to achieve for ambitous nations or resource rich global organizations.
What would be difficult, will to ensure and uphold the general expectation that once an incredible feat like that is accomplished, it will be capable of improving tremendously, the general quality of the Human Life - which in truth, is not going to happen. -

On the contary, I believe that borders must continue to exist.
Differences must continue to remain.
They are one of the prime motivators that has kept our civilization to compete and improve.
However, just as the positive emotions from experiencing Differences can spur us to self-improve, they can also cause the opposite to happen - and that is to eliminate out another which is not the 'same' as ours.
We speak of a borderless world, because in our biasness, we believe that uniform standards that we see in familiar developed nations which we are so used, should be the standard protocols for all others to follow.
In reality however, how accurate is the above view?
Take the 'One Child' policy in China for example.
Would that be a good universal policy for all family units on Earth to follow?
Sure with its objective to keep its domestic population size and structure in check, the policy will be a thumbs up in the Mainland.
But what about the hundreds of millions other living outside of China?
The Americans will probably shoot you for ridiculously violating his/her right to reproduce while the French will probably go on a strike.
No.
To improve and to ensure that this progress goes on, we need to breakdown what is too large to be manageble, into a size that best complement the available efforts and resources.
Let entities, be they individuals, firms or even nations, each strive to improve themselves accordingly to their most convicted notions of what is most crutial for long term survival.
Only when entities engage in activates that they genuinely believe would be the better for themselves, would we see new horizons and quantum leaping improvements take place.
And then at the end of the day, let Nature law prevail.
And that is to allow for the Strong to Override the Weak, and hence forth, begin a new race for international competition across all of the combant fields - Medicine, Education, Agricultural and its likes - all over again. -
