Proud Singaporean

Recently media is discussing abt proud singaporean n behaviour of singaporean oversea... I'm partially agree with some of them like singaporean r narrow minded, never seen the world before, frog in the well, etc.... Do u guyz out there really agree tat we singaporean is proud??

to a certain extent. overpampered by wat we haf here. arrogant rather than proud. nothing wrong wif being proud of singapore (hopefully the pride comes from the heart and does not get triggered only when comparing wif some other countries). but if the pride is misplaced and one starts to go ard comparing and complaining den rather not be.

Wuming is right, theres nothing wrong with being proud of who you are or where you come from. The problem is when a lot of Singaporeans cannot distiguish pride and arrogance. And I've seen a lot of arrogance when Singaporeans are overseas.
Heck, it manifests itself in online forums as well. -
yah lor, some singaporeans like to talk loudly and show off etc... but of course not all are like that. maybe are too use to the efficieny in singapore and when cannot control wat's going on, they tend to scream and fustrated and some find them arrogant this sense.

problem is that they dont realize that if other countries are not as efficient and "smart", they can still survive because they have RESOURCES, whereas Spore will just tip over in the same context.
so they go around kbkb about this and that. then, they think so greatly about themselves and where they came from. this evolve into an inflated ego without the recognition that we are actually fragile and vulnerable.
some of us can do with more humility -
I have notice from a couple of occasion in JB, Singaporean r behaving like they r a big F**k of the world. Its really a disgrace....

I'm proud to be a Singaporean and I'm proud of Singapore.

Well, who's Arrogant & who is Proud, it's a mixed bag I'd say.
I have noted many times, shopping downtown or at housing estates, China nationals who shoulder their way through me, or, just simply budge right in front of me totally blocking my view of what I am looking at in a store front. This is not Arrogance, but Unrefine, and total lack of manners. -
I can agree but not every sporean r like tat. there are always black sheep in every family...maybe more in some..esp Spore..why?
1. only those who can afford to travel...r mostly....thot highly of themsevles. They r the "I made it" type, drives a merc, owners a condo/house, I have 4 "C". Even back home they looked down to their own countrymen.
2. Chidlren...brough up by maids who impact questionable vaules. So goes their public behaviours..
3. The infamous "KS". Only a "KSx2" person are a true survivor. Survive all the GST, stress & plus plus.....
ETC..ETC.. these are only some of the basic qualities of a rich Sporean who can afford to travel.....
Do you think a "do good" person who work in charity/ as social volunteer have the luxury or money to travel? So where are all the good Spore the world has seen? -

there is a difference between pride in what you are, and hubris..
too bad there are so many out there with an "i'm singaporean.. i'm superior to you!" attitude... -

well.. nothing wrong wif comparison. thing is some singaporeans choose to do it rather untactfully and explicitly. y? cos of arrogance due to wat they haf.
and the weirdest thing is, these are usually the same batch of people who complain the most when they r back in singapore.
