Marriages of the same sex in Singapore!?!?
Very unlikely. If a 14 year old gets handed to Police for poessession of porno CDs, and oral sex is a crime, forget this one.
Our system and society IS NOT ready for this. -

i don really mind lor... i mean but the age limit will have to be raised high... cos "gay" people ard the teenage age mostly grows out of it when they reach adulthood... so maybe homo marriages maybe onli allow after 30 or 40 years old...

Personally, I believe I can handle it. But it will take some time for me to get used to it - I mean meeting people who are "husbands and husbands" if this is ever made acceptable here.
But I am sure though, that there are those fraction of society who will reel at the very thought of it.
Then again, Singapore's society is a mixed bag, and religions are diverse, as well as differring racial values.
Hence I say it is VERY UNLIKELY. But I feel of late, our government can be radically surprising. -
Well.. when i talk about my friend's boyfriend.. and they are both males by the way. I'm so totally fine with it. I think it's great that they would be allowed to marry, but that's just me.
Also been to gay pubs in Sg.. ooohh yeah. It's happening under your noses people! HEhee.. Sunday nights boys' night! Where females are discriminated against for the one night ever! -

Anyway, yeah, Gay marriages should be allowed so that Homosexuals would have the same legal protection in relationships that most people take forgranted. Also that they be allowed to buy HDB flats too. -
Yeah i know.. what's with the gays should be allowed into the government? When they wouldn't even allow gay films or tv shows in Sg. quite true most butches actually turn straight after a certain period of time... although there r some who remain as butches... i also a couple of gay friends who turned straight in their 20s... even though they came out of the closet at bout 15 or 16... so from wat i see is tat some teenagers actually has an identity crisis during the period of puberty... maybe cos of their family or watever... so they often goes both ways... both straight and gay... to find their identity... most turn straight la...Originally posted by Lingos:Do you really think it's a fad that they pick up and lose later? -
personally i'm against it , totally. like what someone said it might lead to animal sex which is possible, and i really don't like the fact that one day my son might grow up gay, not because he is one, but because some gay friend give him the impression that its ok to be gay and everyone should be which is the case for some people right now. But i think the govt should legalise it and let the people choose for ourselves what we're going to do about it, what we need is a level playing field for everyone if we're to be judged by our merits not by our religion\sexual preference\age\sex

hehe guess this homosexuality thingy is very common now.. personally i do not voilently object to it...... i feel tat its becoming a trend.. teenagers do this to like seek attention or to find out more abt themselves or even to be different to stand out.. ... up bring plays also plays a big part in this.. most of the ppl i know who are not straight normally become straight when the "trend" dies out.. or when they are not in the company of their not straight friends.. i know a few who are straight now but was not a few years back.. well....guess if singapore wanna legalise it it would create a huge stir in the religious grps.... besides i think the older generation will be the first the object to it....

but seriously, i believe if 2 ppl feel they are meant for each other and wanna spend the rest of their days together, no one can stop them. i think marriage is but a legal acknowledgement of this and provides some limited form of protection against outside abuse.

It's more a channel i show i think. who knows...why not have starhub bring in BravoTV? There is a definite market.
The problem with QEFSG, as much as i like the show, is that Metrosexuality is on its way out as a fad.

True. One could argue that marriages are no big deal, for example, when orthodox marriages (guy/girl) are held, noone cares, apart from the bride/groom and their families and friends, as well as the hotel (moslty hotels/function rooms) people who are present... or the church in which they are wed. Even though a marriage could have been held yesterday, I would not know about it because I am unrelated to the people, thus, the masses wont be offended by same sex marriages because most of them wont know about it, marriages are not really made public, like American Idol.
However, if we did have gay marriages, there would be a stigma in this society, people will find it weird and strange. If let unchecked we could have inter-sexual-orientation conflict. Also some marriages are covered on the news, e.g. i remember watching a canine marriage between 2 dogs, what a wase of time. So imagine, if we had a gay marriage, it might be covered. There would be protests from church goers at the church where the marriage is held, there would also be discontent by people who stay at the hotels where the marriage function dinner is held.
My point: As others have pointed out. Gay marriages are not ready to be had, because of repurcussions that could arise from them. MArriages are more public than "gay clubs at night" and "2 men walking along Orchard embracing each other". Marriages are more public than we think. -
