i feel the bottomline is still money coz it is really costing alot of money to bring up a child not to mention having more than one...Originally posted by Parka:Another point that was frequently mentioned on the papers : Employer's attitude
Errr....that time it is fine for having more than 2......Originally posted by windjammer:i feel the bottomline is still money coz it is really costing alot of money to bring up a child not to mention having more than one...
gahmen can do alot of things if they wan to help in stopping the falling birth rate...like wat they did in the 70's asking people to stop at 2...thinks that is the most successful thing they hv done so far... if they think it is the people's problem then good luck to them...
$10mil divid by population of 3mil = $3.30. Not enough.Originally posted by stoner:Confirm $$$ lar ... garhem give me S$10 million .... TODAY i start making babies !
i dun think it is the success; but rather the stop at 2 thing is a by-product of the increase in stress, work and standard of living...Originally posted by windjammer:i feel the bottomline is still money coz it is really costing alot of money to bring up a child not to mention having more than one...

Yes i agree, it is more about time than money though. People are just simply too busy and life is very hectic. Already many graduates cannot find jobs, what makes you think they would want to find new families? Raising children especially in Singapore is very costly. Time and dedication is a must, with more working mothers and fathers, will children really be looked after properly? In other words, even if we have more children or families here, will they be of good quality? What sort of babies does the government want? The lifestyle in Singapore is just too hectic, my teachers dont even have time for PTA meetings, yet alone to raise families. And this is the same with my adult friends, mostly insurance agents, they dont think that Singapore is a place to really raise children.Originally posted by Parka:Time. Time and money.

If one wants to argue about increasing productivity, then thought should be given to the unemployed, rather than put more resources in raising children.Originally posted by Parka:Anyway, it all boils down to economics.
More people = more spending.
More people might mean more productivity...
