New PAP MPs - The high brow breed

Recently election have threw up many new MPs from PAP. But one is wondering if they really represnt the people. Most of the new MPs are either scholars or high flyers in their respective industries. It is good that we can attract people of such calibre but how in touch are they with the common people. Have any one of them actually particpate in the grassroots and mingle with the commoners like us for at least 3 - 5 years?

It is completely ironical that the 'BEST BRAINS' are recruited by the Ruling Party to be Members of Parliament, and yet the subjects of discussion in Parliament do not even make use of the true potential from such a concentrated gathering of Pure Grey Matters.
With such a gathering of the Best Brains, none has even been mobilised to think critically about PM GCT proposal of having the Members of Parliament to select the future PM of Singapore.
Such a selection process has always been conducted in the highly secretive 'back-room' horse trading, in the highest sanctum of the Ruling Party.
This is possible in a One-Party Rule environment.
Can the future of Singapore be in the hands of one or a small select group of persons, picking the right man amongst their own self-interest group ?
Yet the 'Best Brains' gathered by the Ruling Party, to sit as Members of Parliament, will only discuss about the recent incident of School Boys caught with Porn Videos, and the manner in which the Principal responded.
These 'Best Brains' were gathered to make empty speeches that are ignored by the Cabinet, concerning the poor numbers of baby births, and falling windows in HDB flats, and other mundane street issues.
With a charade of supposedly 'important national' issues being attended to in Parliament, the real issues seem to have been lost from the agenda of Parliament.
Are talent being correctly applied in the right areas, after being monopolised by the Ruling Party ?
This total monopoly of the 'Best Brains' by the Ruling Party seems to be a Pre-emptive Effort to neutralise the potential of anti-Ruling Party behavior by very capable people.
