In another bizarre ruling, our HDB now requires homeowners to check and make sure that the windows that they BUY from HDB conforms to regulations, meaning that the Windows which HDB BUILT has to be checked and paid for by homeowners. Than to add the icing on the cake, HDB owners must find contractors to license the Windows so that if the Windows crash, the contractors get the flak or if not, the homeowners get the flak ... so HDB takes a walk in the park and act blur. To get the license for your Windows, you gotta pay $40, which going by Sg standards will soon have to be paid only via EZ-link. Even for the contractors, which on normal occasions, would be happily laughing their way to the bank as this guarantees them fixed income, is curling their mole hair and wondering, walan eh, the taiji skills of HDB is really quite solid ... they cover their ass, than who cover MY ass.
This is like buying a Windows XP OS from Microsoft and than Microsoft telling you that for all patches and service packs (SPs), to rectify the glaring construction errors or bugs in the OS, you pay for them yourself. Worse, this SPs must be licensed and paid for yearly and that these SPs are licensed by another business entity, Netscape, so that if your Windows crash, its Netscape's fault. The business logic here is kooky to say the fucking least.
As a monolitihic entity that has a sole monopoly on cheap housing in Singapore (the parallel to EZ-link is unnerving), HDB is clearly lacking in the basic fundamentals of business logic. Any private condominium slapping this ruling on potential buyers is committing death by jumping out the windows ... but HDB can do it .. coz there is NO CHOICE ... LPPL (lan pa pa lan) for the majority of Singaporeans already squeezed to dessicated husks. And if the contractors dun agree to this ruling, how? Ask SM to hold a tea session with the PCKs of Singapore?
Next ruling will be asking for a licensing bill on the Gates of your HDB flat too after they get through with the Windows. In my opinion, the biggest virus that causes Windows crashing is not MyDoom, but HDB.exe ... bring out the Norton anti-virus please!
