when do you think our GE will be?

so, when do you think it'll happen?

next yr i think.... abit too early this yr..... but Mr Goh will step down b4 GE, so maybe DPM Lee will be PM by this yr...

Whether or not we have GE, most of them will be walkovers.
Wonder why SG dont practise having distinct fixed constituencies, instead of changing the electorate boundary as and how the PAP wish every few years...this sounds very ridiculous.

1st quarter 2005. I don't see it any time soon. I doubt Marine Parade will be a walkover by then. Hougang will have no fight like the last. And I probably might not even be around to cast my vote.

i wish singapore election can be like taiwan. competition from opposition. strong politcal participation for citizens who go all out to support their party. why singaporean are so politcal inactive?
to consolidate more seat and get more PxP into parliament they use GRC often head by one minister. ever remember before GRC started opposition use to occupy more than 2 seats in parliament. at one stage even 6 or more. i agree that to some extend that most opposition either seldom talk or they do little for their resident. but arent more of your current MP the same? how often do you see them walk in the market shake your hand after election? how often we see meet the ppl session, appointment mostly by ppl who drive mercedes, lexus, camry. to me it more like the meet the rich session. i certainly see many car near my house parking lot whenever there is meet the ppl session.
is our society going to serve and provide good and decent living to the elite class of singaporean only? in SAF these days most commander and chief are scholars? how abt the non scholars? are they really no good? no i dont think so. they are not given opportunity because they are not in the scholars society.
different ppl vote for different reason. some bow down to the threats of housing upgrading, job providing center, PxP child care center. your rubbish clean often. besides my blk become cleaner, i really dont feel my life getting better here year after year of work. -

Singaporeans should stop expecting those who struggle for the alternative cause to do all the dirty work for them. So few people cannot represent the 25% who voted for opposition.
Some opposition party members I know do not even desire as much change as those who only talk. They only want balance. Those who want change only talk.
What about those who want change? Are they offering themselves? -

I beg to differ. Looking at the Taiwan general elections and it's outcome has actually made me more appriciative of Singapore's stable political climate. Like many people, I usually also lamenat about not enough opposition in singapore politics, and how there's just no real competition for PAP. But on the other hand, I would have hated voting if it was choosing between KMT and MCT. If the rilvary and competition is so intense that political parties had to resort to mud slinging and marketing gicmicks. When if you consider them properly, it's only a matter of choosing between the bad and the worse. At least PAP is efficient and uncorrupted (relatively). They might as well do away with GE! It is all a pointless practice!
Opposition? What opposition? NONE!!!
Might as well just stay permamnent ruling party, forget GE. All wayang lah. -
erm if i'm not mistaken the General elections and presidential elections are two seperate things... general elections are held every five years and for presidential elections its six years... GE is when we elect members of parliament and PE is when we elect the president... correct me if i'm wrong here...

i can't remember if its monthly or fortnightly, but it's always packed.
