what wrong with a neighbourhood guy dating a RGS gal?

today hear from radio atopic on FM938 about teenager from elite school objecting dating of elite school with neighbourhood school.
feel really sad. is that the direction which our society is moving into, class segmentation. whose fault? ministry of education, parents, whole environment? is this the problem of today of it started more than 15 years ago when we start classifying PSLE grade entry into different school.
i think the problem of this generation teenager that behave like this are problem which planted the roots some 20 years ago. during the 80s this problem already started among during my generation. we seldom mix with sch from different class, such as RI, RGS. this trend lasted until JC level. after entry into university everything become equal because now either u r from NUS or NTU. but class differentiation doesnt stop there. it compare between poly and university, ITE.
even in our time, we feel our minister are feeling right up there. not really understanding how ppl at the lower level feel. in NS, have your scholars officer give a damn how you soldiers feel? or he busying implementing policy at the expense of fellow soldier? if even elitism happen in govt sector, it basically happen in our whole country. it scary to think elitism started as young as 7 year old when parent start enroling their children to famous primary school. because these primary school has the record of producing extraordinary ppl. can we blame the parents? if our society aiming to ' age 7 decide your whole future'. -
even in a school itself such things are happening, students from em1, em2,em3 are seperated from each other , and teachers refuse to allow their students to mix with those from em3 for fear that their students might catch the "virus" that made the em3 students stupid, and then there's the express stream and normal acad\technical stream, even in the express stream there's the science classes and art classes

I believe this kind of seperatist attitude will always exist. Whether in singapore or in other countries. Whether now, in the past or in the future. People will always be judged by others for their colour, their social status. It has always happened and forever will. But we can as human beings try to change as many people out there as possible. But it wil still happen.
Now to be a little on-topic.
There are many things that definie a person, not just grades. Other skills as well. A person who has good grades but has little of other skills may not be able to perform a task in the real world when given him. On the other hand, a street-smart person who is poor in academics may be able to survive well if thrown into a real-world situation.
Just because the guy is not good in a good school won't mean he won't have good grades. Even if he does not have good grades, it does not mean he is a non-achiever.
Points is, grades aren't everything. And in any relationship, there will always be differences. Whether in terms of personality, background, etc, etc ,etc. It is up to the couple to overcome these differences together. Afterall, they have chosen to be together. So they should take efforts to make sure the relationship works for whatever reasons. So long as they're happy together. Who's to say anything?
Do not ever let others definite what happiness is for you. You ultimately know what makes you happy and what doesn't. -
It is the gov fault for allowing so many level of steaming and separation in our education. It causes a lot of stress and negative view on our student when they r young.I don't see so many streaming in other countries. They(PAP) will pay for their evil deed!

There is nothing wrong with streaming. It is a proccess to allow students who are weaker to catch up with their peers at their own pace. Each of us have different learning speeds. The fault lies in society for perceiving streaming negatively and adopting an elitist attitude. we need to look at the roots of the problem. we if has a streaming education system, it basically set the foundation of what our society will become in the future. just look at recently what kind of arts school are we gona have? at least express stream student and normal student gona rate by case by case basis. are we talking art ? why set boundaries for our arts school. there are many student who are bad in studies but which are good in arts?
we dont blame the govt, we blame the minister. to become a better society is to first remove such minister who implement stupid policy.
