But taiwan has 1.2 million troops leh. how china going walk in and take over liddat? You think the generals there allow meh?
But having said that I alus believe in karma if until today taiwan still not under china control then probably it was never meant to be. Forcing taiwan could be more trouble than is worth. Taiwan could endup like the troublesome 'bandar acheh' of china oneday.
Aiya China so big leow, shud 'sua'(settle) with taiwan. -
China may be big but giving up a small island is like giving one example to other province of able to achieving independent. Especially some unstable province like xiqiang and tibet which is not occupied by the Hans.
Just like Indonesia giving up one East Timor,then what happen? The voice for independent in Aceh become greater and civil war broke out!
So don't think the country very big and giving up one small part is ok! Soviet Union(Russia)empire crumble because of this reason! -
just dun understand why they taking so long to force ah bian down... the long they wait.. the less the number of ppl interested to go on riot... and more time for ah bian to hide all the evidence of any kelong..

Why do China have a right to Taiwan in the first place ? They are both different politcal environment in it and have their sovereignity in their own country isn't it ? Taking the capital of china doesn't mean KMT has signed a surrender without conditions.
I give an example, if Germany attack British and British and retreat to North Ireland. Germany stop its attack then. Should North Ireland be British or Germany then ? It should still be British land isn't it ? -

A Strong China will benefit all the Chinese in China, Taiwan, Singapore or anywhere.
Now, we can raise our voice and say I am Chinese but in the past you better keep quiet in front of Americian.
A Strong and Peaceful China will benefit the whole world especially economy. -
China has tried not to use force to take back Taiwan because it will not benefit to China or other countries.
So all the countries Should Help China for PEACEFUL UNIFICATION -

No, I do not feel tat Taiwan should be part of china. I have studied history and still maintain my stand tat Taiwan is as independent as it should be. In the past, China is ruled by KMT. However in the later stage, there spread the idea of communism and there r fighting between people who choose capitalist and communism. In the end, because of Japan in WW2, KMT lose the war in china and had to retreat to taiwan where communism take control. However it never attack Taiwan because of US.
Now, why does Taiwan have to be part of china ? China never succeed in controlling taiwan neither do KMT surrender. Why should it be part of china ? In the past when china is weak, more people feel tat taiwan is taiwan while china is china. It is only recently when china becomes strong people r starting to say taiwan is part of china. Wat is the basis for this ? -
Another way for peace is for china to give up trying to take over taiwan. Why don't the other countries try to talk china into giving it up ?

no leaders in their right mind will tell China to give up Taiwan. This is sovereign rights.Haven't you seen enough of examples where countries fight tooth and nail over some islands, some of which are just outcrops of no economic value? -

Taiwan was designated as a prefecture within the mainland province of Fujian in 1683. For 212 years after that year Taiwan formed part of the Chinese empire ruled from Beijing. Chinese sovereignty over Taiwan then was recognised by America, Russia, Britain, France and Japan in various treaties such as Treaties of Tientsin, Treaty of Shimonoseki. In the 1943 Cairo Declaration, UK and US acknowledged that Manchuria, Formosa and the Pescadore Islands had been an integral part of China in 1895.
The inaction of the PRC over Taiwan after the KMT retreated there in 1949, however doesn't vitiate it's claim to sovereignty. And Taiwan's claim of independence is therefore untenable because of the primacy of sovereignty under international law. -

KMT is suppose to be the ruling party of china then so there doesn't seems to be any wrong in retreating to its island. It is not about 1661 etc, we should be talking about during 1949. If we r talking about 1661, Mongolian might as well talk Kublai Khan times where mongolia conquered most of asia europe.

The important things to note is when a nation retreat over to taiwan while its contesters rule over a big piece of its land. Does tat means the island have to go to them ? Chinese is an ethnic group.The rising China we have is one which is pragmatic and looks out for its self-interest.It won't give a rat's ass about oversea Chinese,because they are of different nationalities.For me,China is a distant ancestral homeland.
I am Singaporean,as are all of you.We aren't Chinese as in being Chinese nationals,though our ethnicity is chinese ok.I place my nationality on a higher scale than ethnicity anyday.
