Perhaps this sleeping act is also some foreign talent? Especially if he really is a China national.
Then again, sadly, such scenes are common when we commute during peak hours - people couldn't care less for one another after a day of toil at the office.
Lets look it this way; if people are generally discontented, short of money, have no job, or is just getting by with the knowledge that he can lose his job anytime soon, I don't think COURTESY or GRACIOUSNESS is something a brooding lot will have occupying their minds and hearts.
Whaddaya thinks?
I hope you aren't making a dig at China nationals by linking inconsiderate behavior to them.

In fact I've seen China nationals who are alot more polite and kind than a few locals...
I think if one lives a life of uncertainty in the workplace, putting that "courtesy" and "graciousness" can make one's own life and the lives of others alot better. They're primary elements of life! Work is secondary.

Having problems isn't an excuse to have things your way and behave in an insensitive manner...

It's like, everyone has their own problems, and if just ONE person puts aside his/her problem for a moment and gives his seat up to a needy commuter for instance, it could in fact make that needy commuter feel alot better and do the same in future.
