I here a lot about how one can change lifestyles, and survive in these austere times. But look at how much some of my friends have changed, but still in the red or pretty close to the red:
>> gave up driving and sold car
>> eat hawker food or cook and eat at home
>> no movies, only watched rented ones or the TV
>> stopped using the aircon at night
>> no holdiays abroad, just the occasional trip to Bedok Jetty or East Coast
>> surrendere all credit cards and facilities
So tell me, what life in Singapore does one have left after trimming off all the above? If life is all about toiling and paying bills and taxes and nothing else, then what kind of life do we have? If cutting down on all the above and still bills takes up 3/4 of one's monthly income, then it surely indicates that living costs are way way too high.
It's very much the life of a machine.
