What does Singapore need?

We are in a world where hatred is fought with hatred. I think what SG needs is to be different. Hatred must be fought with love. We need to tell the world that we as a society is a loving society that truely accept everyone.
I think to bind S'poreans to SG is to make this place a place for everyone. I think we as a society is coming to a stage where we have to think of sustainability. How are we going to make this place home in this big bad world?
I think we should start by proclaiming that we are a country that accepts everyone (that includes the gays, lesbians, trans-gendered, disabled, and mentally unstable). This I think will tell everyone that we are a loving society. Human rights must be championed by the government too if we are going to continue attracting people from all over here to SG. How are we going to compete in this globalized world? We have the tools, we have the policies, but there are going to be other countries that can provide better incentives to business and people to go there. What we need to build is our diversity in order to assure that we value humans, I think that will allow us to continue prospering as a society.

I just wrote this for fun. I am not a just a gay rights supporter. I support the idea of equality. That we should all be equal and not treat others differently just because they are gay or straight or because they are a muslim or a christian. Yes you might not agree to that lifestyle but if you use your disagreement to oppress someone else who might be gay is wrong (in my opinion). I think that is what tolarrence is about.

I'm not excactly a gay right supporter, but i'm not all out against them. They can live a humans, but i don't support homosexual marraige, IMO it's disgusting, and not natural. In fact, those who are gay should seek help as homosexuality is not normal either. We don't see hamsters or chimps trying to mate with their own gender do we?

And for the first post, Singapore is already...on this road, accepting gays and so on...but like it or not, our society is not ready to accept these changes just yet.

Seriously, i have a little problem accepting homosexuals myself.But what can i say? Can't just order all gays to saint johns island and lock them up forever right? They are humans afterall. But on the other hand, i am highly uncomfortable with gay marriages.So, oh well. . . . .

Loving and Caring. Looks to me, there's a LONG LONG ways to go for that to happen in Singapore.
Firstly, if we can just change the way commuters behave while travelling by bus of MRT, will be a great improvement and a very big step forward. It's a daily thing; everyone wants to alight and board at the same time. Nobody gives way.
As for gays, I don't have anything against these genre of people. Stay out of my hair, I stay out of theirs. Simple.
Since we're all humans, we should try our level best to understand and live with each other. -
Monkeys screwing each other might be a result of poor regonition of gender..not neccessary homosexual. Homosexuality seems to be only present the human race, a result of social evolution perhaps?

one effective way is to abolish the Death penalty and Caning.
Another is to smash the Defamation Act once and for all.
oh yeah, n throw in the Garnishee Order as well.
lastly, scrap streaming.
if the govt starts loving, so will the pple.

the pikamaster What for? Criminals should pay for their crimes. And the death panalty is usually used for extreme of cases...murder, but they should lax the drug trafficking. No streaming...as good as scrap pragmatism. -

A gay relationship is always wrong! No matter how many years,how many centuries have passed.In moral and in the eyes of the law! Just like stealing is a crime and always be a crime,no matter how many cycle of civilisation have gone through!
I think the moral of gobilisation has becoming more and more slack as the years go by! In the past having an affair is a offence which may result in dealt,now all u need to do is to sign a divorce and everthing is over!How abt the oath u make during the marriage registration. singapore needs dreamers and risk takers.
or rather, an infastructure to support them. with less red tape.
regarding homosexuality. i do not think it is right. of the ones that i know, it is not an in-born thing to them, but rather a side effect of a traumatic experience.
however this has been argued to death, no one side can prove each other right or wrong. so let's just leave it at that, and discuss other more pushing issues. -

1) Keep Singapore Clean and Green,
2) Speak Mandarin,
3) Road Safety Campaign,
4) Courtesy Campaign,
5) Cleaniness Block Campaign,
6) Wash Ur Hands Campaign,
7) Be a Volunteer Campaign, Safety First Campaign,
9) Save water Campaign,
10) Higher Productivity Campaign... plus etc etc.
So what else do we need to upgrade? -

I think Singapore is moving towards a more tolerant society for gays and lesbian.
Well, even thought I a bit uncomfy of this, i not against it as it does no real harm to anyone. Its the person own preference or rights.
Anyway, I feel same sex marriage is abit ... er mmm.. how shld I put it, strange... oh well, i against that idea. -
IF you people cant accept Chinese FOBS or Ang Moh FOBS or tainted half breeds, how can we expect you to accept Homosexuals? Irony.

I have a problem with what you are saying here. To proclaim something like that, we must be sincere and truthful about it. I do not think that all Singaporeans have that mindset to accept homosexuals and all that. If we still proclaim it, how different is it from a lie? In fact, it's a blatant lie.
