and because of this process, i come to see that beliefs and values should not be seen as absolutes and black vs. white, but relative to historical origin and relative to present day context.
i agree with u... "beliefs" have no right or wrong... but some pple would insist that they do -
To those who claim that homosexuality isn't natural, you should realise that even in nature, there are many, many examples of homosexuality between animals - it's not an unusual occurrence at all.
That said, I personally have nothing against gay marriages. In fact, I'm all for it. Given how hetreosexuals have increasingly diminished the sanctity of marriage in modern times, and to have a group of people who are fighting so hard for these same rights to be legally bound together.... well there's something to be said about it. But then again, I'm an idealist - as long as two people love each other enough to want to make that life changing promise of commitment to each other, they should be allowed to marry and be recognised as a union of two people.
But we live in a society that is largely still very conservative - look at the problems with gay marriages in US! It isn't going to happen in Singapore. Not in our lifetime.
