Ya. why must Singaporean's brain be 'dictated' to speak and not to speak? Sound ridiculous to meOriginally posted by wuming78:talk oso mus be told? keep quiet oso mus be told?
But Singaporeans in general don't speak up much... and when they do, often it's regarding trivial issues rather than big topics that truly concerns them and their well-being and the such...Originally posted by CX:how typically singaporean... to have a campaign to tell pple to speak up...![]()
What resulted such social norm? Think hard.Originally posted by MooKu:But Singaporeans in general don't speak up much... and when they do, often it's regarding trivial issues rather than big topics that truly concerns them and their well-being and the such...
Cause...? The Nanny.Originally posted by thinker:What resulted such social norm? Think hard.. Remove or change the cause of such social norm, and more ppl will speak up
. My opinion is its still the same as before, not much changes yet.
Erhm. but this is not a campaign from the govt. SDC does not represent the govt. SDC does not belong to the govt.Originally posted by CX:how typically singaporean... to have a campaign to tell pple to speak up...![]()

Many people think that national education is just 'bloody government propaganda' and all that 'rah-rah' stuff.
National education is about understanding how the nation came about and the significance of the challenges we face today...understand how the nation came about? how? by reading LKY's memoirs? by going to the "singapore story" exhibition at the history museum?

wait a minute. something is wrong somewhere. how did the word lame come in? sorry, i think you misunderstood where we are coming from. we are inviting people to share their personal stories for a researcher project. we are collecting stories and commentaries from the man in the street. There is nothing 'special' nor is it, i stress again, a govt project. and the word 'bribe' ?!! wah strong word.and i thought most singaporeans love freebies.
it is not asking u to love yr country and all that yadada. it is about asking ourselves questions, about having an opinion, about discovering issues about ourselves, about laughing at ourselves, about knowing how we are all connected... There are many ways to do it. e.g. Jack Neo does it very well via his movies, Mr Brown and his columns..u seem to be asking yourself a very limited range of questions then...
lets keep an open mind. Nothing is lame in this world. who says you have to read someone's memiors to understand how the nation came about? no, you can just ask anyone in the street, the taxi drivers, the uncles in the kopitam, the aunties in the wet market, and from there, form your own opinion.like i said... believe what u wanna believe...
Let us continue to push the OB markers. Just make sure we don't cross it.talk about lame...
Peace.*yawn*![]()

Is there a better word to replace lame? let's not sprinkle words loosely which are not helpful. besides, the real meaning is to describe the physically disabled people...
rather to just dismiss it, can u elaborate? what is your point? can u substantiate your opinion?the point is, that a deliberate attempt to ask pple to "speak up" is quite sad because why can't pple do so on their own initiative? or choose their own setting?
and how/what will u think should be done to make people more acutely aware of nationalistic issues? and be vocal about it?the easiest way to make pple comfortable in speaking up is to simply stop having stupid nonsense like OB markers.
not govt body, not stat board. ltd company.Originally posted by witness:Yo George....
What is the status of the SDC?
Is it a government body, a stat board or a wholly private company?
My parents, my teachers, and some members of some hammer and lightning team makes me "shy" to speak out.Originally posted by thinker:Ya. why must Singaporean's brain be 'dictated' to speak and not to speak? Sound ridiculous to me![]()
The easiest way to make ppl more aware of nationalistic issues is to open up political area, becoz only that way can we Singaporeans feel safe enough to voice out our opinions. But unfortunely now in parliament, only 2 opposition party hang in there half dead waiting to be finished off......Originally posted by Little_George:Is there a better word to replace lame? let's not sprinkle words loosely which are not helpful. besides, the real meaning is to describe the physically disabled people...
