Is A level harder than before ?

Are you happy with the way A level system are revised?
Now, JC has axed Commerce streams. ( students nowadays cannot study Four subjects like Principles of Accounting, Economics, Maths C and Management of Business. In Centralised Institute, you can study only three )
A level examination papers are harder than before..
Last time, in Maths C, we can choose any questions we want to answer. Now it is harder as my cousin said she has to answer all the questions.. -
I prefer having to do all questions because sometimes you dont know which question is better to choose
then u choose one and do halfway find out that it is actually harder then very cham -
Don't know... I guess so.
E.g. for Economics, students used to be able to pick out questions to do from a list of 11 essay questions. Now the number is reduced to 6. And the number of multiple choice questions has decreased too... and they're normally the part students utilize to enhance their score. -
everything is getting harder. Bastards at education/MOE. I will hunt htem down when i become powerful.

All exams are getting harder. The amt. of facts/ the kids have to digest is getting more. The kids are getting smarter that's why the results are better so it is becoming more competitive to secure a place in U.

I dont believe in the working with others BullShit, in all my school days I have never had a pleasant experience of it, some retards dont do Shit, some do a lot of things...things that screw your work up that is. the only time I wanna work with someone, is when the people all listen to me, then we will be damn productive.Originally posted by laurence82:Overheard....

well....singapore have to full utilise its people cos we don't have natural resources and we have very little population. it is worsed by declining birthrate. don't be surprised when they marked up the retiring age again and again.

American/Western education is better. It gives you knowledge and life. To succeed in life is not all about good pieces of paper, which is what we in Singapore and most Asian countries seem to be encouraging by mass. But then again only the whites.. *cough* errr i mean Westerners can afford to have such systems coz it seems god preferred them by giving them resources. I guess competitive is everywhere, just depends on the degree. And the degree is based on culture. Western culture more free and fun loving because they can afford to be, because of resources (when u talk about Singapore's case). But when u talk about japan and China, i have no answer. -
nah i do not really think that the A levels is getting harder....... its juz that there is no easy way out now that the no of choices has been reduced for most papers. Students now would not be able to spot topics or even "throw away" topics which they are weak in like i used to do back in school. In fact i tink the current system is more able to test a student's understanding of concepts as compared to the past when ppl could juz mug like mad to get their As without understanding a thing........

men@arms what ur saying is slightly wrong as u must understand that in America they can afford to do so by allowing everyone to try and findl their interest.... Singapore cannot afford to do so espcially wif the NS thingy tat takes away 2 yrs of our lives..... . But nontheless u would be surprised by the level of competitiveness in some of the top tier universities.... Like MIT, Stanford etc the competition can be so intense that they engage in "politics" to oudo each other..........
Finally i would like to say tat having a good piece of paper is not tat bad as at least if u fail in ur business ventures or whatever endeavour u have something to fall back on coz how many of us can be a Bill Gates or Warren Buffet? after all hasent bringing our education level to such high standard that singapore managed to achieved a first world status? Does this not show that our education system was a success? -
