In the eyes of the world, we are the same people.
We speak the same languages
We eat the same food

We probably even smell alike
Maybe it's time to reconcile
Maybe it's time to become One nation again
One country, two systems
Harvest the synergy of being united
Show the world we can live as one
After all, the quarrel occured amongst the politicians only
With the exit of Old Man and the elevation of the Crown Prince, we should be able to start afresh. Perhaps under the European Union model...........

but this thought has also crossed my mind, especially when i think into the future - like perhaps 50 years later. that is when the rest of the region would perhaps have caught up with us, and the limitations to our growth due to size and resource may start to show...

I will go against this idea throughout my lifetime if this ever comes up from the ministers mouth. -
Don't just look at Hong Kong. Look at Macau too. After its handover to China in 1999, their economy has seen healthy growth for the past few years. So much so that taxes have been cut and reduced. I have a few friends from Macau who told me that their lives have gotten better post 1999. Have all of you wondered why our local media (CH 8 for example)never tell us anything Macau and keeps on telling us about all the strikes and unrest in Hong Kong? Due to the continued bad economy and high unemployment rate in S'pore, they are trying to project a false impression to the local people that many places around the world are just as bad. This is totally wrong b'cos if u look around other asian countries like Thailand and China, their economies are actually booming. Take China for example. Due to the high economic growth, Chinese tourists are becoming the biggest spenders and in fact they are wooed by many countries around the world from europe to america to Australia. If we really want to join them easy what. Start using their stamps, currency, sing their National Anthem... Observer their holidays, etc... then taDAH!
