Studies prove that equal opportunities does not exist!

Like I always said before, equal opportunities does not exist for poor or less educated people like us. Now finally there is a study to prove it. In a recent study, NUS don Tan Ern Ser has shown that in spite of the govt's best intentions, Singapore still has an underlying class mentality. As quoted" As Dr Tan observes with some sense of resignation:"You have a system which tries to provide a level playing field, coupled with rewarding by merit. But like it or not, wealth inheritance and social background do not have an impact on one's life-chances, opportunities and social mobility.In short opportunities are never truly equal."
Doesn't this get you to wonder why so many local students in our U all come from family with money. Why they can afford to study 3 full years without working part time. Why those who get scholarships usually are all those that comes from family who don't need them? Why after that they got chances to get better higher position jobs which gives them a "higher" view of any opportunities that come along.Why people from certain "class" don't associate with others from certain class. -

its a reality and also a perception in the end - equal opportunities, and perceptions do shape the outcome too. -
ha, i live in a 4-room flat only, studying in NTU, don't work part time but my family not rich. My friends all live in HDB mostly, all also either take bank loans or CPF. Maybe the NUS goon dunno there is such thing called bank loan and cpf...
