Singapore should Take Back Christmas Island

Even up till today, Christmas island follow some parts of singapore law
eg
Customs Ordinance (of the Colony of Singapore in its application to the Territory)
Quarantine and Prevention of Disease Ordinance (of the Colony of Singapore in its application to the Territory)
A refugee who lands on Christmas Island is NOT deemed to have landed in Australia, and hence cannot claim refugee status.
By the way, Christmas Island is closer to Singapore than Australia.
I am not asking for armed conflict. I am only asking that Singapore buy back the Island. Pay for what it is worth, crabs and all......... -
if you sell something, expect it sold and not be yours anymore
if you want it back .... make an offer the new owner can't resist.
how would you like it if you buy something and the person you bought it from comes and takes it back from right under your nose?

If u have suggested $500mil for batam, riau island or bintan, at least it makes more sense lah... nearerest to Singapore. In terms of geographical advantage, its good for Singapore too..

I remember seeing a documentary on Christmas Island. There is still many Singapore descendant on the island.
The history of the sovereign of Christmas Island is a bit tricky, it was actually administrated by the British Colonial Office of Singapore but not a territory of Singapore. It was adminstrated by the British Colonial Office of Singapore for abt a hundred years before the administration was transfer to Australia in 1958.
The money paid to Singapore was sort of a "take care" fee for helping to administrate Christmas Island.

must share with u people young or old about Christmas Island....this island is damn far from us ok.....so don't keep saying it should belong to us.....i felt that way too until i saw the location of the island....NBZ.....it is to the left of Sumatra....now who dare to say it should belong to Singapore?
So more, an old man told me Lim Yew Hock wasn't the one who actually sold Christmas Island.....he was just a scapegoat...someone else did.....
And Christmas Island was an island full of crabs....u may laugh but it is true.....the amount of crabs on the island is scary .... as much as ants .....
in the olden days, when people are sleeping in their beds, lines of crabs climbed up their beds in the night......
roads were also full of squashed crabs......
what Christmas Island produce last time? Phosporous......the island land is full of Phosporous....
Those people living there mostly are Chinese and Malay....just like olden days Singapore.....you also could see school buses and schools.....and students attending schools on the island......nostalgic memories -

You think phosphorus is enough to maintain SG's economy? Phosphorus, comes in 4 allotrophic forms, white, yellow, red, black/dark violet. Do you know the value and uses of phosphorus even? Is is highly dangerous, highly poisonous and burns spontaneously in air.
Have you ever went mining before? I don't think the cost of mining, producing and refining phosphorus, on a crab infested island could be covered by the profit of the sale of phosphorus.
Anyway, you could always make phosphorus from urine. It was first discovered that way.. -

the rocks there are high in phosphate so they mine it, crush it, pack it and put it on flowers.
ANYWAY, thats all pre-independence stuff. there's enough stuff they DON't tell us about from 1965 already... anyone serious about history and willing to get dirty and dig are free to try... there's stuff to be found definitely...
why argue about a piece of rock of little relevance or consequence to us?

Remember Law of the Sea . If Christmas Island still belongs to Singapore, Singapore can claim the continental shelf as part of her economic zone, hundreds of Km from Singapore Island.
As it is , Singapore territorial waters now end 3 miles (5km) from Changi beach.......
(or 3 miles from Pedra Blangka (Pulau Batu Putih) if the World Court gives the rocks to Singapore).........no economic zone to speak of..........and then there is the possiblity of OIL under the sea......... -
Question.. If sg takes it back.. What are they gonna do about illegal immigration? Ya know lots of Illegal immigrants are using Christmas island to get their hands on my tax money?!

Christmas Island can be used to develop a premier national park and a world-class casino well away from our mainland.The island can be transformed into something like the Cayman Islands or the Bahamas.Only thing is that CAD might have more on their hands in the case of a Cayman Islands-type of offshore banking sector.

I think someone must go to Christmax Islands and open a Crab House so that we can organised a eat till u drop 3 days 2 night tour to crab feast.
Or organised a free and easy (catch and pengang/roast) of crab as you like ......,
Anyone wanna go there and claim back the island..... buy lands there, build Crab hotel, Crab restaurant, Crab house, crab pub, crab kopitiam. Put all the flags on in your premises and somehow are becomes truely S'pore. -

there are 3 types of crabs there.. blue crabs, the red crabs and the robber crabs..

Make Singapore the Market Place.
Then connect up to all manufacturing bases in Malaysia, Indonesia, Burmah, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and sell their products with a re-branding.
Use International Task-lines to do so and we will be fine.

singapore becomes fully "independent" in 1965. so what is the problem with that island? it was sold by somebody else right? that is the good point of being colonized by others.
