the enemy had to think twice because it's become impossible to take over
the whole nation in first invation.
The second island can simply used as a army camp, and a national park for
tourists in the peace years. If it can be a new industry park would be better.
then if the main island under attack, Singaporeans can still have an
interim government in own land, not in third country land, so even the
enemy establish a puppet government in main island, it's difficult to gain
worldwide recognization, as the original legitimate government is
still operating in Singapore own land.
If Christmas island is impossible to recover, I suggest Singapore to buy
another tiny land from other friendly and poor countries. SEA location is best,
then may be south America, Africa, whatever country willing to sell maybe
500-1000 square KM to Singapore from a few hundreds millions to a few billions.
EVERY YEAR, Sg government spends about 4.2 billions in the military issue,
so if pay just a few billions at ONE TIME and significantly improve the national
security, it should be a good deal, isn't it?
It's a very very sesitive issue, but also very very important for
Singapore security, and, it maybe a good deal in finance, too.
you saw government selling land to private companies at which price
per square meter, if Singapore can develop the new land to a
successful industry park, then the real estate revenue in next 20
years may cover all the cost for buying the land.
50 years before, what is the land's price of Singapore, and 50
years later, how much it increased?
The new land can be developed by new immigrants from India and
China, no need to migrate from Singapore main island, and issue
the policy to prevent the new immigrant to migrate to main island
within 20 years, thus the main island labor market will not be affected,
and the new island can attract a lot investments because the labor cost is very very low, similar to China and India, but it's corrupt-free, has a sound legal system.
good on you.. you might be the only in here to think it is impossible to take that tine island back.. from whatever the country owns right now..
any feasiblity study has been done so far about purchasing another island in current world??
the answer would be another "impossible".
