What's the rationale for single...

What's the rationale for single must be 35 years of age than he or she can buy a 3 room flat. Why not 28 or 30. Maybe after getting a place to stay, he or she will want to have a partner to live with him or her and thus solving the problem of too many single and low brithrate.
When will the 3 room flat type be start building again? Those born in the year 69 to 78 will be looking at these type when they reach 35 soon as most or some of them are still single.
of couse with the prize HDB is at now, those 'can' but still around may have opt for condo b4 reaching 35.
What is the GOV doing now. Will the new one be looking at this issuse. Why must be at 35? -

Stupid government think that by not letting single buy a HDB flat before 35, this will encourage people to get attached. Somehow, they think people marry to buy a HDB flat. The fact is, singles living by themselves away from parents are more likely to get attached due to loneliness after being away from parent, rather than being in the comfort zone with parents. So, they got their logic all wrong. This government think everything can be measure by $$ one.
And the feedback people also damn stupid, keep telling government how there is no incentive to marry and have children. So, that makes the government think even more that $$ can encourage people to get attached and marry. And hence the logic of letting people who are "hopeless of getting married" to buy a HDB flat at the age of 35. They got it all wrong!! -

there is a rationale alright.
it is all a trick.
the government has already taken away the rights of fathers.
so now few men want to be fathers because there is no point.
except, of course, having a truly loving partner.
but such women are diminishing in numbers.
and it is the government that help create such people.
for example, when couples divorce, regardless of the circumstances,
the husband must give to the wife a part of his fortune.
the wife does not need to give up anything.
in other words,
if it is the husband's fault, he pays.
and if it is the wife's fault, he still pays.
wives know this, and a lot of them exploit this.
we had a thread on this a few months ago.
it is especially prevalent in the US of A.
in fact, a wife can divorce her husband for no reason at all.
you want sex from the marriage?
paid sex is cheaper than married life.
especially if you were foolish enough to let some pretty face bring you to marriage within a month of knowing her.
hell, within three years, wives gain a peculiar sympton.
"i have got a headache."
you want children?
when the divorce courts are biased??
when they would give the children to a psychotic mother who murdered??
it happened in the USA.
they expect the husband to pay for the upbringing of the child.
yet the money ends up in THEIR own coffers.
the child never gets it.
and halleluia, 1/3 of those fathers are not really the father.
the irony is that it is the government's fault for promiscuous living.
screwing the lives of fathers is a very profitable business.
and now they are subtly forcing people to get hitched.
they are avoiding direct assault on liberty because people would really get mad.
they see that the number of husbands to screw over is going down.
bad for their bank account.
and those women are not saints either.
they are making other women look bad.
i am not supporting promiscuous living.
but it is justified.
bring the government to their knees.
let them remember that their job is to serve us
not themselves.
my suggestion is this:
men, do not get hitch too quickly..
if your gf forces you to get married..
be very suspicious.
people are good actors.
of course don't take twenty years to make up your mind.
discern her true self.
and don't let those selfish ones marr the essence of venus. -

The 35 rule only applies to single occupancy of HDB flat.
Just check the hdb website if you need details. -
Need to add. i am assuming the child is legally regconized here. If not, then I guess things gets more complicated.

I guess when u are 28- 30 you still got chance to get married. Once u are 35 sure confirmed spinster/old bachelor.
Anyway staying with parents has its benefits- don't have to pay maintenance, food, PUB, tel. bills etc. The money saved can be used for holidays/ courses

Well, the government will have to reverse its decision on 35yr olds and new flats if they want to occupy all those empty flats sitting unoccupied all over Singapore right now. (which brings up the question about why being born and bred in singapore, having done my 2.5 years of national service, paying my taxes etc, I'm still not entitled to buy one single frikking new "govt subsidised..hah!" HDB flat unless I get married or reach 35 yrs of age? Oh well, I like the condo I'm staying in now anyway. So up yours, HDB and policy makers.

However, don't be on it happening anytime soon. The trend now is to attract foreigners to take up Singapore citizenship and settle down here and breed lots of children to make up the shortfall. Who knows, maybe it might just work. I'm already seeing more and more indians and mainland chinese everywhere I go. Of course, these new "talent" might after a while arrive at the same conclusions as many people here have and decide not to breed after all. -

Question is how illegitmate? You mean the child is not even regconized as a citizen of Singapore?
If he is, then who are his parents on his/her birth cert? Orphan?
What is the legal status of the mother? Single or married? I think as long as there is no ROM or child at all, then government regconized this person as Single. Then she should be eligible for the singles scheme in HDB.
In the worst case, you have a widowed mother with a child regconized as an orphan, then it could be a situation where that person cannot get a flat. Then, I guess it is really a bad situation. -
Just need to add again. If she is regconized as single, she can always buy the flat as a single. But when she gets the flat, she can always have the child staying with her. Many people do not stay where they claim to be staying in Singapore. Lots of friends/ friend's friend etc etc doing that.

Let singles buy HDB.. private property market loses some potential buyers.
Lower the age limit.. private property rental market lose some tenants.
Give chance to the private property market leh.. -

I agree with you. however, there are really people getting married just for HDB flats. most of them end up in a divorce, but some managed to have children b4 divorce. so govt still got their goals of having more children...
