Singapore will not negotiate with Terrorists

Here's a few words of advice to all who travel a lot:
Make sure, you don't travel to places where you can potentially be kidnapped and held hostage. Because it seems, our government will not negotiate to save your neck. -
Difficult situation. And don't put your government in that situation. -
Officially, Singapore might not negotiate with terrorist kidnapper directly. I was wondering whether they might negotiate vie 3rd party or secretive..

I bet next time the terrorist must be scratching their heads and said to themselves, "why did'nt we ask for a ransom too?!?"
Next time, they will demand $1billion pesos and kidnap more people.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A Web site message purportedly from a group linked to suspected terrorist mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi warned Muslims and Arab countries against sending troops to Iraq and specifically threatened Japan.
Two Islamist militant Web sites posted a message said to be from Unification and Jihad's military wing, the Khaled ibn Waleed Brigade.
CNN cannot authenticate the source of the message, which was dated Tuesday.
Part of the message was addressed to Pakistan, Jordan, Turkey, Iran, the Gulf states, Malaysia and Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country, as well as to Arab and Islamic companies.
"We in the Unification and Jihad warn Arab and Muslim governments from sending troops to Iraq and supporting the American forces and its allies," said the message, adding that the group "will not stand still if any Arab or Muslim troops are sent."
The message also said that the militants "are warning for the last time" that they will "hit with an iron hand all those who will support the Americans/Allawi and his group," referring to interim Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi.
Allawi said last week he had sent formal requests to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Morocco and Oman for troop contributions.
The other message addressed the Japanese government, which has 550 humanitarian troops in Iraq.
"Do like what the Philippines did," the posting said, referring to this week's Filipino troop withdrawal. "No one will help you if you don't and we will not forgive or disregard anybody who came to Iraq. You didn't come to support the Iraqi people but to protect the Americans; your fate will be exactly the same as the Americans and others."
The Philippines removed its humanitarian troops a month early, a demand set by the abductors of Angelo de la Cruz, a 46-year-old Filipino truck driver.
"And for Arab and Muslim forces, we advise you not to obey if you are forced to be sent to Iraq and if you don't, then, the laden cars will be waiting for you and we will not stop."
Unification and Jihad claims Jordanian-born al-Zarqawi as its emir or leader. The network is suspected of many attacks against U.S.-led forces in Iraq.
The United States has raised the bounty on the head of al-Zarqawi from $10 million to $25 million. -
Singapore should stay focused in building racial harmony, multi-religious community, multi-culturalism and multi-racialism. Let the big brothers take care of international politics and conflicts.
Learn from the Swiss. Be strong, supple, patient without being exposed. I don't think anyone is targeting us deliberately as long as we don't go out of the way to offend them or invite them to target at us.
Why not build on our established racial harmony and yet have good preparedness to defend ourselves aimed to producing two skills - strengths of preparedness one hand and caution, patience without being too exposed on the other.
This is not cowardice or compromise but good thoughtful preparedness. -

i agree our govt policy that we shouldnt back down to terrorist.
philippines are making a fool of themselves. miss arroyo are doing that because she wana concrete her position in philippines to make the ppl happy. but she never think if one day abu sayef create trouble, who can she turn to? american again?
we dont want to attack anyone but neither do we back down against threat that why we need to built strong SAF and keep malaysia and indonesia quiet for so long. -

"fk wasted my time serving 2 years in SAF , now 2 years wasted and somemore the rest of my life wasted in COE and TAXES and not having a CAR and a private property to enjoy on and i know that the rest of singaporeans will not even heck about me, and they will still go on earning $$" -

yeah, that's y gloria arroyo has made a very very difficult decision. It will affect ties with other countries who are all out against these militants...
Transnational terrosim has caused a wave of serious concerns to rise. As in the papers, will the measures implemented affect civilian liberties?
I personally feel that if the measures adopted by the new government agency is adequate and appropriate, and most importantly, we are treated with our own rights, it wouldnt cause much concerns among us -
Do not go into the battle with a half-hatched plan.
Be totally committed for a long haul with full provisions and back-up and be sure to win from position of strength.
What are these provisions, morale, back-ups. If we are not even committed to morale for our soldiers because morale is at a low, there will be no cause to fight for. By general assessments of many people here, government judging by its stance is not likely to bring back the kidnapped soldier of Singapore. Is this what is good morale. Without good morale, we cannot win a war. This may be happening to American troops right now. -
