Actually I don't think the most of us are against China Chinese but government of China for their policies and attitude toward others.Originally posted by Sardaukar:First off,I'm a Singaporean, and relatively proud of it.
However, the issue of China is a hot one, with ppl here having a very backwards and stereotyped view of China ppl.
First off,I must clarify something.Chinese form China are China Chinese.Chinese from Singapore are Singapore Chinese. You are NOT Chinese Singaporean. You are Singaporean Chinese.
(btw,I can say whatever shit I want about Chinese as I am half-Chinese.I feel that the govt is emphasising too much Chineseness here.We are not Chinese but Singaporean.)
Many ppl claim that China ppl are egotistical, arrogant and supranationalist.Aren't many Singaporeans guilty of the same crimes? You are looking down on ppl whom we share a common heritage with,a culture that along with the Indian culture have survived for several millenia, the lpongest so far in recorded human history.
Most of the China ppl I know are decent, hard working ppl, some of the students more hard working than Singaporeans.I should know,I am friends with many of them in Sydney.Of course, you will have your bad apples and your good apples. You cannot simply say that all Chinese are arrogant and egotistical just because of the actions of a few.
Thats like saying that all Indians are smelly or all Chinese smell like sotong or all Singaporeans are racist pigs, many are but most are not.For example,I myself have been discriminated against during my life due to my heritage, being half-Chinese with rest being Indian-Portueguese.Many ppl say that Singapore is multicultural,I would say yes, largely so,but there are isolated incidents.Who discriminates against me-Chinese,my own ppl,my own race.I have also faced discrimination in Sydney as well, but not from the native people.Guess what-it is also Chinese.Of course,I don't go around saying that all Chinese are racist simply because of the actions of a few misguided idiots.
Similarly,we cannot judge all Chinese just because of the actions of their government.I feel that the comments you make should be more balanced and slightly more objective.Consider what you type and preview it before deciding whether ot not to post it.

Sardaukar, we will only step in if some one makes the topic too hot here. And we have been doing our job if you bothered to read all the 4 pages. If you wish us to go away, we will let you know who to continue to disrupt your thread with topics of masturbation and wanking. And to name call you to your heart's content. (btw,I can say whatever shit I want about Chinese as I am half-Chinese.I feel that the govt is emphasising too much Chineseness here.We are not Chinese but Singaporean.)True. U gotta be chinese to criticise chinese. But the govt emphasises on chinese for practical economic reasons of tapping into the Chinese market... not for some egoistical or racist reason. Nothing wrong with that.

And yes, most are not egoistical, but they tend to mix among themselves, just as we mix among ourselves despite the fact that we are in the same school. Communication problem... they're english is weaker and they're chinese is too powerful and rapid for most of us... This lack of communication is the fault of both parties, why blame only the Singaporeans.
Thats like saying that all Indians are smelly or all Chinese smell like sotong or all Singaporeans are racist pigs, many are but most are not.For example,I myself have been discriminated against during my life due to my heritage, being half-Chinese with rest being Indian-Portueguese.Many ppl say that Singapore is multicultural,I would say yes, largely so,but there are isolated incidents.Who discriminates against me-Chinese,my own ppl,my own race.I have also faced discrimination in Sydney as well, but not from the native people.Guess what-it is also Chinese.Of course,I don't go around saying that all Chinese are racist simply because of the actions of a few misguided idiots.Eh, u might wanna rephrase ur point? Singapore is multiracial, and u "would say yes largely so"? Multiracial does NOT equal racial harmony or tolerance... singapore is either multiracial or NOT multiracial... and from what i see... we are multiracial... what u mean by there are isolated incidents? isolated incidents of not being multiracial? multiracial refers to the racial composition, NOT the views held by the people
i note u mention "...MANY singaporeans are guilty of..." in ur 5th paragraph. if u dun say all or most chinese are racist because of a few misguided idiots, why criticise "many" singaporeans because of the actions of a few misguided idiots?
Similarly,we cannot judge all Chinese just because of the actions of their government.I feel that the comments you make should be more balanced and slightly more objective.Consider what you type and preview it before deciding whether ot not to post it.Yes, ALL of us should do that. "Us" meaning u and me as well...
