Another National Day, will high costs and problems go away?

Singapore has problems. But through media doing and presentation things look good from outside.
The fact is only few people and companies are doing well - only those given the opportunities.
I suppose the rationale of this forum is to establish true views and problems. Such similar feedbacks were repeated in other forums without any solutions.
Not just this forum, lately feedbacks by listeners who call in to mandarin radio 958, pointed to the same unsolved problems.
Sigh : so many problems and costs are still going up.
So my poser is: Come national day, do we have any solutions to correct bad to good or worse to not so worse. Is something being done or are we brain-washed or brain-dead enough not to expect any national day goodies now.
Your views ? Cheers to national day?

I think each one of those increase needs to be looked into details. Some sounds ridicolous (E.g. last time bus fare increase is followed by announcement of profit from bus company, really !@#$%^&*). But some may be justified. Government budget deficit is ALL SINGAPOREANS' problem, not just government hor. So, if there is justification, no problem. The standard reply to previous feedbacks include : (a) tell us your proposed solutions (b) what are your proposals, (c) give us feedbacks, (d) approach your MPs, (e) write to various panels, or (f) forming of some more committees or re-structuring.
We might have postponed problems continuously from one year to next by justifications, denials and contentions.
The correct way is to be proactive and be efficient and accountable to all problems without resorting to such contentiousness as stated in posting "HOW TO DO IT" - giving some specific examples only. If people are indeed in charge as presumed by such answer-back then people will know the solutions. More views from the rest of Singaporeans who are supposed to be more educated compared with one generation ago is therefore important on methodology of governance being posted by several on this site. -

I am not sure if I am getting your point correctly. Let me know if my responses do not make sense to you.
It is good to propose framework on moving ahead. But when it comes to solving problems, each has to be studied on it's own merit considering impact on various involved party. When things are vague, then there is no item to action upon. And thus, indecision and lack of actual action. Debating things on the philosophical level is interesting and many people likes to do that. But when it comes to actual research of the problem and defining the problem and solution set, very few people do it. My point here is really just that we need to talk about the actual issues, and not just some vague ideas at the philosophical level.

Not just forummers here. Just visit any forums or feedback threads and lately feedbacks by listeners who call in to mandarin radio 958, all feedbacks point to the same unsolved problems.
Past unsolved problems are : high costs, fee increases, more fee increases. These confirmed opinions of most posting given here.
So my poser is: Will another national day solutions to correct bad to good or worse to not so worse. Is something being done or are we continuously brain-washed or are we now brain-dead enough not to expect any national day goodies now.

1 Sell off all GLCs and distribute money to Singaporeans
2 Cap salary of scholars and ministers to $100 a mth.
3 Provide unemployment benefits
4 Provide free housing for all Singaporeans
5 Provide free transport for all Singaporeans
6 Cancelled all WPs and EPs reserved jobs for Singaporeans only.
That should solve all problems you mention and reduce cost of living. -

I appreciate your points - we need to be more specific.
The problems however remain resolved at fundamental level.
This everyone can see if where the problem is.
If fundamental cannot be fruitfully addressed, no matter how specific, there would be problems still, don't you see?
Many people disagree among themselves on what to bring up, what to feedbacks. That itself is a problem. There is a need to avoid it if we all can. There is nothing wrong with bringing up problems in larger perspective is there? -

talking about a change of fundalmentals is like talking about change in Govt. Something like a 100% makeover which is nearly impossible unless the whole cabinet go on the same plane on a trip and the plane crashed with no survivors.
We can make a lot of noise and attract attention about individual issues like CPF, HDB and FT hopefully somebody will see and bring up in parliament for further discussion.
Changing the fundalmentals are just beyond our means. -

All have good counter-suggestions. They are helpful.
Agreed with both that we are not in a position to change government. Every suggestion counts including other sources mentioned. Let's us hope authority realize that their previous policies based on less-educated population at one time may not suit new generation where everyone is a potential talent. There are alternatives and options as thrown up by all including getting more lands, or freeing up intellectual space more. Auto-piloting old policies is keeping new ideas at bay and if there is good and cohesive feedbacks, solutions will come sooner and filter down to every level and impact larger. -

change in fundamentals is Change in ATTITUDE & MINDSETS ... if only people got the balls, the HEART & the calibre to change.... what u have stated in yr post in PURE RUBBISH
