If I may sum up the views here, many people have no objection to LHL's leadership as there is a need to be realistic.
In the same breath, most people who gave suggestions here also want him to change past unworkable class or high-cost policies and make life more tolerable to those affected. Regards. -

If i am not wrong,i come to notice young Lee is when in 1998 or 99 when the share prices go up very high due to united states well performance in their share market.At that time,young Lee was the first one who come out "complaining" the share is too high,then Lou Lee step out n say the same thing,then Mr Goh.Then the next thing i know,the share drop like hell and i lose $7000 to $8000 plus during that time.And after that i never play share in big amount anymore n now totally dont touch share becoz i realise now that our politicians also "interested in" share market instead of doing their daily job.Another thing if i am not wrong,he is also the one who complaing about house reselling policy,so now we cannot buy n sell our house immediately to make a profit anymore!Well,all these things have past n if he can buck up and be a good PM,i will still support him.But if he screw thing up,i am going to "fly"!

LHL is indeed a capable man. In the past, we often see him as LKY's son and often or not his capabilities are shadowed over by his dad. We as singaporean, have we actually view him as an individual, and value what he has done for sgp for the last many years. It will be judgemental for us to say that he is going to rule singapore like his dad simply because he is LKY's son. Towards his new government, i think we shld adopt a wait and see attitude before condemning him even before he begins his term.
He is afterall already our PM, why dun we give him some time to prove himself just like how we give Mr Goh a few years to prove his leadership. -

the state, the nation and the government are 3 different things. don't confuse them together.
LHL is just ONE small part of the gov't. we have no reason to assume that he encompasses state, nation and government.
singapore is a small country, but we should be bigger than that when we think of the question of what we stand for and what makes us singaporean.
we do not need to all stand behind one man like mindless drones to make us patriotic or great. -

Lee Hsien Loong is a brilliant individual. I'm sure his dad is proud of him. Even his Cambridge professor states that LHL is the best student that he has taught in terms of Mathematics - no on comes close. For an alpha maths grading, he got 31 and the second is a distant 19.
While serving in SAF, he invented a calculator for missile fire range, putting his good mathematics skills to good use. He also excelled in operations deployment during an incident.
As for his performance in politics, he has proven to be an analytical leader from the way he took charge of MAS. Liberalising the local banking system is an example. -
I throw up my hands (and legs) in support even at the expense of incurring the wrath of many here. Propose to me one fella who u think can be a better PM for our country. Speak up man. I think this plead to support the Prime Minister is unnecessary. We are prepared to be ruled by him, we are RESIGNED to our fates. Eagerness or willingness to accept him is irrelevant. He does not NEED our popular approval.
Still, he has had a good 20 years experience in governance and politics, and those high-level appointments throughout the years won't hurt in preparing him for the job.
Let's just hope Singapore will not encounter any crisis beyond his ability to contain, at least until the next PM comes anyway. -

lam pa sai lah... the scientific calculator he invent one meh? the one introduced was a HP product. what he did was introduce the equipment from the private sector to the army... and it wasn't for calculating missile range... it was for calculating artillery trajectory.

the banking sector was liberalised cos of the Sg-USA FTA... not because of his enlightened economic mind...
truth be told, the standard of our local banks are NO WHERE near the standards of American banks who have acquired an international presence.
the sensible thing to do is actually to protect them until they can really compete effectively with them...
but with the FTA, u are forced to let US banks in on equal terms and compete before the local banks are ready. i am certainly switching my bank account from screwed up DBS to Citibank very, very soon liao...
