WHY NO ACTIONS TAKEN ON HIGH COSTS

WHY KHAW BOON WAN CAN DO IT - PREDECESSORS CANNOT
So far there is no news or replies to people's constant feedbacks on high costs. The press has seldom reported on such matters now.
Previous Ministers of Health have taken the stand that there is no room for reduction of costs. Other Ministers like Minister for Transport had done the same thing but incurred strong objections from public. Now he was proven wrong again as Transport Companies are making huge profits this year and it is not true after all that they need the gradual increases to improve services.
It had been proven that high costs may be caused by Ministers' own lack of willingness to admit the problems or take actions.
How about asking all ministers to do the same like what Minister Khaw Boon Wan has done. Be hands-on and look into it with a microscope. Adopt a fair charging formula such as : Consumption + Recurrent. Exclude double charge on Land and non-consumption items funded from tax payers monies in the first place.
Any better ideas to present this problems across? -

If government is accountable and transparent, and more willing as demonstrated by the way Khaw Boon Wan did a turn-about on past high cost policy of the MOH, it will do well in the future.
I agree with your clarity of thought on this matter. It is hoped that there will be changes including setting up of work processes to incorporate such quality-time-cost parameters as posted in "HOW TO DO IT". This is a more proactive and hands-on approach which will no doubt bring more improvements in the next phase after GCT.
If government continues to persist in the past assumptions insisting that people must not keep mentioning old problems, and continue to rely on presumptuous abilities of scholars to take care of all problems or major problems, then it will be mistaken again for the next 14 years.
Mr. Khaw Boon Wan went on TV recently to assure that MOH will study the Toyota Production System to see how to cut down costs and wastages which were identified as the main features of success of Toyota. This is a good approach.
However, locally, many people have given suggestions to the government to apply hands-on results-oriented doable work processes to improve implentation efficiency. If government is prepared to use some of its people's own ideas instead of relying on ISO or other world renown gurus, may be we will be out of the wood sooner. After all, SPRING has admitted that its past 20 years of training schemes did not quite produce a more productive economy. For now, with China and India competing strongly, we just need to have our loss of competitiveness recognized with new ministers getting the acts together without the constant past justifications for past policies. People must have a view if not at the end, they themselves are the ones to blame of loss of competitiveness and high costs

Let's not be emotional here. why cant solve issue instead of creating more issues?
I mean work like Mr Khaw, he is trying to solve his ministry issues that benefit Singaporeans. -
HDB is expensive for the reason why cars are expensive.
If flats are cheap, there would be hordes of people buying up flats for whatever reasons. -

It's question is all about: Who is the Mints-ter. If for his/her entire life never taste poverty... no school on earth can ever teach you for give you the experiece real poverty.
So what is the inflation compare to Mints-ter's pay? If it does hurt there is no pain... -

As for Koh Boon Khaw I think he grew up poor. If I am not wrong he used to be the director of SGH. He understands the local medical system well. I think he is a suitable man for the job. -
