Look at the facts about Indonesia:
1. Up to 1 million people killed in 1965 when Suhato destroyed the Communists.
2. After that all traces of China wiped out, including no chinese signs, newspapers, no chinese names allowed, no chinese schools.
3. Then they conquered East Timor, and 1/3 of the population died in war, famine, ethnic clensing etc
4. When East Timor gained freedom thru elections, the Indonesians burned everything in East Timor, destroying the whole infrastructure of the country.
....................you think they will be kind to Singapore??????
NO- they will destroy everything if they have a chance........even steal your stinking toilet.............. Meanwhile, they dream of becoming a regional Nuclear power.......... -
Is the Indonesian "smoke" from the forest fire the only kind of "smoke" that is destroying our lungs ?
The forest fire occur only about once a year, when the big and small plantations and agricultural activities utilise the slash and burn technique to clear the land for the planting of new crops.
During the better parts of the year, when the air is clear and relatively fresh, how often do you walk pass some open space when you smell the sickeningly sweet and sticky lingering smell of the "KRETEK" - cigarettes made from cloves.
The "Kretek" is cheap, and the prices are almost a quarter of the price charged for imported 'Western Branded' cigarettes, that produce lighter cigarette smoke that are just as pungent but seems to have lesser lingering smell.
If any action is needed by the Government, the Government should imposed a higher tax level that will make the "cheap smokes" from these "Kreteks" to be just as costly as the 'branded' cigarettes.
To discourage smoking completely, the Singapore Government should follow the practises of other governments to protect the non-smoking Citizens, by banning all smoking in open spaces that can affect non-smokers who are present in large numbers.
At present, smokers will congregate at the entrances of buildings in such large gathering, that non-smokers entering the building will have to encounter the lingering smoke at the lobby areas leading to the entrances. -

They are weak now, but once they become strong, they will revive their old empires - the Sri-Vijaya empire and the Majapahit Empire.
Do not forget the original Singapore was destroyed by Indonesia in the form of the Majapahit kingdom in the 13th Century, and Singapore remained a ghost town until Raffles came in 1819.
That's why I am not very confident about the Indons......... -
