All seem trying to praise and say all the good things about PM national day speech from 1001 angles ..
All over the places, again and again, individuals trying to 'angkat' the speech .. looking into nitty gritty and zooming in all the little little good things .. make them as if they got the whole world given to them ..
Really sick and tired of all these comments ..
There are two sides of a coin .. there are good things and bad (or 'not so good') about everything ..
haha.. sarcastic? anyway, its up to u guys to believe ornt.. my teacher not that free to give an interviewOriginally posted by nasmeg:should get rongshao's econ teacher being interviewed by media to balance the reporting ..

People are free to speak up, ppl should be encouraged to voice their opinion. This is freedom of speech. Why feel guilty if you spoke, unless you just follow the crowd and did not speak your true feeling.Originally posted by huiz:i am guilty of it....i switched off the tv during the speech n turned on the radio.
A new leadership is taking place... untried and untested. Do you think anyone will dare to tilt the balance and say the bad about anything as yet...Originally posted by nasmeg:News after news, articles after articles ..

Perhaps they think PM office will keep the record of all the good things they said then they will be rewarded ..

It is indeed not very nice to see one family monopolises so many things. As for the local media and newspapers, they are so pro-PAP that they will always portray them in a positive light. Nowadays I don't really watch local news anymore... You will seldom or never see this kind of article in the Straits times.Originally posted by reyes:frankly i dont really care what he has to say or all those PAP fellow say on TV. they just treat singaporean like idiots. anyway singaporean are really idiots. all newspaper are pro PAP. nothing bad can be sad about them.
week ago i was in china watching local china channel, they have a politics talk show about singapore. why we can accept such a family rule.
LSY - singtel/ BG
HC - temasek holding
LSL- Finance minister/ PM/BG
LKY- Senior PM but still influenial.
I think we are stupid la to accept such a system in singapore which nowhere in the whole can tolorate. we are less outspoken than the rest of the developed country, our ppl general knowledge level is pathetic, and yet when we go oversea, we feel so proud and houlian and basically hated by many.
I think their family business is more than that.Originally posted by reyes:frankly i dont really care what he has to say or all those PAP fellow say on TV. they just treat singaporean like idiots. anyway singaporean are really idiots. all newspaper are pro PAP. nothing bad can be sad about them.

There is plenty of material for you at sammyboy.Originally posted by men_@_arms:Can anyone please remind me why you all hate your local government again? I need tangible reasons to do my comic. All i see is discontent without reason.

your econ teacher is good example if s/he is willing to voice out the concern ..
anyway, here are some excerpts i took from today's straitstimes -- as you can see all only focusing on the good thingy (those in the bracket are my comments)
- 'i kept sending sms messages to my friends asking if what i was hearing was true'
(what the heck is this comment, no relevance and only want to 'angkat', how long and how many smse did he send by claiming 'kept sending')
- 'singaporeans now have less of an excuse for not wanting to speak up'
(got excuse or not is not the reason why someone wants to speak up, there are 1001 other reasons, what the heck he thinks he knows why we are not speaking up, a psychic?)
- 'i hope .. the trust between the govment and the volunteer groups will be strengthened. by giving more space, the govment will only haul in people when they overstep the boundaries rather than check on them every step of the way'
(what? do you think govment so free to check you on every step of the way? better no comment than speak up like tat)
- 'oh, it was very wonderful! i liked the wide coverage of topics and his style. in the past, i used to feel he was more reserved and stern. but it's clear he's someone who can also crack jokes'
(this person who gave the above comment is only open the mouth without any substance as if he knows PM well enough to comment like tat, and he thinks PM must give jokes?)
- 'that was a very profound statement, so profound that i think it will send a wave of change across the whole education scene because here in singapore, we are certainly over-teaching our students'
(if this person already certain that we have been all along over-teaching, why he only opens his mouth now, what an opportunist!)
- 'i wasn't planning to watch the whole speech but i did because his delivery was very personable and interesting. mr lee showed that he is someone who is really in touch with the grassroots level'
(better keep his mouth shut, than comment no use like tat)
oh ok.. but i'm afraid to inform you that my teacher only like to voice his opinions in class.. so.. too bad!
I don't even bother reading them. See the title, skip. Next news please. Learn to filter information. We are in the age of information overload.Originally posted by nasmeg:News after news, articles after articles ..
