Singapore is neither communist nor democratic.
Our Government is a cleverly mocked democracy, it's true form of Government is actually dictatorship.
Everyone should be able to see quite clearly as the true color of this dictatorship was recently unfolded with the appointment of the new PM.
Question - should'nt a PM be elected and not appointed?
Shouldnt a new General Election be called once a PM resigned?
How can anyone be sure that majority have accepted the ruling party's nomination for PM.?
The MPs elected LHL as PM - WE DID NOT! And you all jolly well know what sort of MPs we have in Parliament. -
to be frank, i dont like spore political system in the dominance hands of a family. but we do have a choice. we can vote. we can change. how can we say we are communist. we choose the govt we want, unfortunately we only like to push the responsibility away from ourselves. we push by saying
1. we dont have a good opp party for us to vote.
2. if only my vote can make a different i will vote for opp.
let us vote already then complain. for those who din vote for opp, cant really complain much that we are communist , royal rule and etc. -

That's what I said.
And I would also like to point out they don't elect the President at all. They elect the candidate who represents the PARTY (Democratic/Republican) and will becme the President. The PARTY chooses which candidate will stand for election.
So, either way, MIONG gets a good hard ass raping.

If I remember right, whilst I was doing my research in the library, a book entitled 'Communitarian Democracy' was the term used to define Singapore's political system. My bad for not remembering the author's name but it was a Singaporean.

There are many labels that are used to describe non-Western, non-liberal democracies academically.
There are also many labels that can be used to describe ignorant people like Miong. -

pls lah. Every GE u look at the numbers, even constituencies with a choice will have majority vote for PAP... But its not cos the PAP is super good.. its just super good relative to the other parties... who gives a damn about human rights if u cant afford ur medical fees or house?
But then again, I think the PAP has been doing a pretty good job lorh. some policies, like CPF, medisave, and the range of subsidies, upgrading programmes, etc, may be socialist. but who said we must subscibe to western democ just cos it works for them? if it aint broke, dun fix it...
i dun think the policies are fine, but the oppo needs a large number of MPs sitting there.... but oppo MP just for the sake of having oppo is stupid. u need some real oppo who will think of how to increase no. of jobs, lower medical fees, question specific government actions on education, spending, etc. Not lump everything together and say the govt never respect human rights....
and complaining and bitching about the system that makes you an MP does NOT help matters very much... singaporeans who cant feed their kids dun give no shit about whether the system is fair in giving you a chance to be MP, u want people to start caring abt getting you into parliament, u start producing gd ideas that will help them feed their kids... -
