Hi,
Anyone care to share your experience if your organisation just implemented 5 day work week?
Mine just did, following the lead of civil service.
We were prepared to work longer hours for Mondays to Fridays since the working hours per week should remain the same at 44 hours. So our working hours are now from 8.30am to 6pm.
But guess what? My boss came up with some twisted reasons to justify rostering us to come back on Saturdays when there is really no need to. He even lied to his boss -- our big big boss that we supported his initiative when our opinion was never even asked!
And that's not all! He also came up with some crap reason to assign us with tasks that begins at 8am (Mons to Fris) promising that we could take time off if affected. But the truth is taking time off is almost impossible even when we were working 5.5 days!
Work load is getting more and more unbearable especially when staff resigned have not been replaced and those left behind have to shoulder what's meant for 2 or more staff.
So, instead of allowing more time with families, we found ourselves being saddled with longer working hours, more work that we had to bring home every evening and over the weekends to complete.
There is even talk that our annual leave might be shortened!!!
So much for work life balance!
