Thank you for your reply, really appreciate it.Originally posted by pumpladder16:\Do you think it is better to be a Malaysian Malay or Singapore Malay?
Recently our former PM (Dr. M) said that Singapore Malay are poor treated, they have no status and no chance to be govt minister, is it true?\
hi burntan,
i'm a singaporean chinese-malay but i consider myself malay since i was brought up as a malay-muslim.
i think that it is better to be a singaporean. period.don't get me wrong. i say this because, this is my country and i'm very attached to this place.
about Dr. M's comments. overall, from my experiences growing up, i find that, overall, his comments don't ring true. when i was younger, i used to think that being Chinese means that u would be preferred over Malay to be in e government, hold high positions in e military/ police/etc., get into universities/ polys. but now it seems that race doesnt play such an important role.
wat is more important is ur ability. how good u are. a recent example would be the Malay SAFOS scholar. i used to think e singapore military would never award a Malay such a prestigious award but it happened. and for me, personally, this has sort of opened my eyes to see that race isnt as important as ability. of course, i'm only 21 and a number of older Malays i've come across feel that being Malay means u can never make it big in singapore. but i feel that things are opening up for us.
i hope im not wrong, cause i really love singapore and i'd be really sad if it turns out that those pakciks were right.[/quote]

Like I said, you don't usually hear anything bad about your country when you are "[b]in" it. Just like most China citizen doesn't know there are people kill in 64 incident.
BTW, I am not a representative of Malaysian and I don't plan to act like one. I just trying to answer questions here based on my knowledge and experience. The stories I heard about Malaysian workers in Singapore is thru my relative who work in Singapore and some friend's friend who work in Singapore. They comment that Singaporean are not friendly, they think that they are higher class people compare to Malaysian.
You know what? I experienced something similiar here when some of you start posting how rich Singaporean are compare to Malaysian, where by most of you can buy expensive bangalow here in JB.

As a minority race, I feel like I am a second class citizen. A lot of things like mother tongue language education we need to fight for it in order to get it. Chinese schools are always less funded. Govt only take care of bumiputra...etc. A lot of things needed to improve.
Malaysia is a very nice place to stay, rich in resources, almost no natural disaster, multi caltures, beautiful beach and islands.....I really like this place.
Now i know why 2004 Mitsubishi LANCER 1.6 litre inside got no chip or any computer aid to drive the car..Originally posted by 2004Lancer:maybe we should send some our top Malay agents into Malaysia politics and assume top posts in GOV ministries, GLCs and even UMNO....
in times to come, they can prove to Dr M how intelligent our Malay is..........and how capable they are...........when the day comes, Malaysia will be ours!!! WHAHAHAHAHAAA....
this is just my next 50 years' vision la.....
i foresee our country will merge with Malaysia to form a new Nation called [Malagaporura]
The future 4th or 5th prime minister name will probably be prefixed with Mohd Lee something something.....whahahahahaa
agree one, SAY!!!!!
