hey guys, just wanna say that
if from 2.5 years (now shortened to effective 2, knn)
you've learnt some stuff, learnt to be more independent, become tougher, can tahan more nonsense from people, make some friends, then it's not wasted.
NS can destroy some people, i know; strip them of their self confidence and some even their sanity. This is tragic, and the problem is not with National Service itself, but the people who are in it!
If you are currently serving NS, and you see someone having some trouble coping, ie. find it hard to adapt, overloaded with work, always kena bully... i urge you to make an effort to help them. then everyone get through okay and you feel good that you have helped.
Wat dosent break you, makes you stronger. Hope that is what happens to 99.9% of our guys. -
hi guys, i ORDed in 1997 ..... cursed and swored thru the whole 2.4 yrs
........ but now when i look back, i actually quite enjoy the time there over and above all the shitty and tough times............... i feel the best things abt NS is the true teamwork that i have yet to see in the "civilised" world, frenships bonded there, and of course, all the F**king here and there (of course, non-active personnal might not have the same sentiments) ....... but most importantly, i have come to realise that in times of need, you just need to ask yourself a simple question, WHO IS GOING TO PROTECT YOUR FAMILY? are you going to AWOL if war really breaks out ? and run where ? ..... for me, this is enuff for me to view NS obligations with a purpose......
anyway, me not say very patriotic, me still kao-pehing that i going in for ICT end of this month .......
