After hearing clearly what the Taiwan Foreign Minister is saying with his gesture, I cannot believe it at all!
The Taiwan Foreign Minister is just belittling Singapore as a small country like a NOSE DROPPING and using very obscene Hokkien, saying we are carrying the balls/prick of China! "Bo Tong Guo a Lan Pa"!
I wonder how our Foreign Ministry is going to react to this one.

They have been having endless problem since ah bian stole the presidency. No popular artists want to perform at their national day celebrations. Their citizens demonstrated against buying expensive arms from USA. Why should we be bother by what their Foreign Minister said ? It was a personal statement made by an individual for a domestic audience. It is not an official statement of their Foreign Ministry nor the official stand of the Taiwanese government. Such a statement make in his personal capacity will only reflect badly on the person. It seems to me that the media here in Taiwan do not agree with the statement made. So, it is only a comment made by only one person, though it is a person with a high post in Taiwan. The population here in general do not agree with that statement. That is the feeling that I get from the Media and my Taiwanese friend here.

This would probably incite more anger in Singapore. But the Taiwanese foreign minister not only said that Singapore is Pi Sai. He also said Singapore hugging ROC's Lam Pa.
And for consolation, the media here in Taiwan keeps condemning the inappropriateness of the foreign minister's statement. Apology has also been send to Singapore over the statement this afternoon. -

Singapore should learn a lesson from the recent spat with Taiwan.
By pressing on the issue in UN and other forum making all kinds of statements against Taiwan for escalating tensions in the Straits, Singapore will not be serving its own and international interests.
Despite all the assertions made by Singapore, about its views of the China-Taiwan politics, Taiwan is unmoved and will be able to counteract whatever views we have and while China will not necessarily be persuaded of Singapore's sincerity and will harbour quiet cynicism based on its understanding of our past experiences with our ambivalent approaches.
In the same way, Singapore should not lead the international opinion on terrorism or religious conflicts between Islam and the rest of the world.
It may be asked : what can Singapore a small country do to safeguard its interests in this turbulent world?
Very simple: Try to be ourselves, be what we are and not be what we are not.
We are militarily equipped, able to defend ourselves - our plus points or strengths. Based on this as our strength, build up our diplomacy with various countries in S. E. Asia especially Asean with whom after Badawi, we could still retain some past credibility.
Exercise our quiet diplomacy by extending our technical aids and investment assistances. Specialists in various fields can be engaged to implement such aids and mutually beneficial assistances or investments.
When we are able to pursue such quiet diplomacy with real demonstration of people-to-people contacts and connections, our voice will be heard in whatever line we take.
High profile or front-running diplomacy is not very suitable for our small and vulnerable country to pursue as to do so, we will encounter much resistances and ill wills of many towards us. (A lesson from Sun Sze Art of War) -

Regarding taiwan , i got NO absolute idea why our govt even wanna comment on tw and cn issues..
Nope, SingaporE cannot REMAIN neutral , Taiwan will be waiting for help from the European and Middle Eastern Bases, and supplies to arrive
(Note that the route of supplies from SK and JP will be most likely jammed)
They will need our F-16 jets coupled with KC-135R tankers to escort the ship carrying supplies , Singapore has alot of good facilities which makes us more viable towards supporting US ships and etc..administrative bases..
The point whereby lotsa aegis destroyers and american frigates and submarines coming from deployment from middle east
will also be crucial.
China will definitely ask us to block this and that..
I hope we will remain Neutral, but i think if a war happens and if
China invades Taiwan,
We will secretly support Taiwan
but if war happens and if Taiwan caused it, we will not support them and prolly support China? -
