That is true since 1959.Originally posted by Quinsy:Some say that teh Singapore government is turning into some one ruling party adn no opposition government...I'm beginning to think taht maybe it's true...is it?
Hi MiongOriginally posted by miong:Enough of the silly and outdated negative presumptions on opposition politicians .
This IS the new age. Different times. Opposition teams are reported to to be different from the past.
In any case, no matter what, any reasonable decent opposition is better than none. We cant just depend on voiceless PAP MPs to represent us.
If we don't have anyone in parliament to challenge the rulling party's iron fist tactics and policies, we the citizens have to do it ourselves in public forums -
irritating some unthinking government parrots to mimic that Singaporeans complain too much.
What do you do if you're struggling to pay bills and feed the children wiith the knowledge that Government isnt listening, and not trying hard enough to lower the cost of living?

nice to see you here!
Ok. i want to get serious support. Please let me know how to behave seriously.![]()
actually, the real anti-opposition actions only started in the early 1970s, after the PAP lost a by-election to the WP.Originally posted by Qitai:That is true since 1959.
Actually, I sort of like a parliment with lots of individual. Even USA really have only two party only. European countries seems to be having the fun of having multiple parties and individuals now.
waht exactly is "behaving seriously"?Originally posted by papertiger:If the opposition start behaving seriously they will get serious support.![]()
CSJ merely adopts a confrontational pose. It is true that sometimes he goes overboard (like barging in at SM's prize ceremony), but I think that the local press has done a perfect job in defaming him. To me, I find him about the same as Low and/or Chiam, except perhaps a little more extreme.Originally posted by paperchicken:Opposition like Chiam and Low welcome lah. Not CSJ type lah.![]()
dun be a clown like CSJ.Originally posted by pikamaster:waht exactly is "behaving seriously"?
If CSJ wants to be heard he has to win a seat in the parliament first and stop behaving like a thug. He onli has a handful of supporters yet he always claim to speak for all Singaporeans. At least Chiam and Low had the support of the ppl.Originally posted by pikamaster:CSJ merely adopts a confrontational pose. Actually, don't hear much of Chiam as oppo nowadays; what was the most recent speech he gave at Parliament?

No, you may not!Originally posted by runningismylife:you guys make it sound as though supporting the PAP is so immature, and so illogical of singaporeans.
may i laugh?
do we have an alternative ?Originally posted by pikamaster:No, you may not!, at least fort eh second part. Given that so many people dislike the govt, it is surprising that they are still "voted" for, or perhaps it has something to do with walkovers...
the irate pikamaster
No, you cannot laugh. You are not eligible to vote and make decision as an adult at 16 years old, how can you even comment on the others for being immature. Please wait until you have reached 21 years old after 5 years. Thanks.Originally posted by runningismylife:you guys make it sound as though supporting the PAP is so immature, and so illogical of singaporeans.

If the government isn't listening, shout louder to make them know. If that fall to deaf ear, vote them down. If cannot even vote and you dare not challenge the authority, move or else mati.Originally posted by miong:Enough of the silly and outdated negative presumptions on opposition politicians .

alternative to what? laughter? yup, we have. We can start really putting our heads together and thinking of a concrete way to change our country. If we can't rely on the Ruling party or the Opposition, then we better start relying on ourselves!Originally posted by paperchicken:do we have an alternative ?![]()
If the alternative is Chia Li Tik and Goh Meng Seng I will laugh even louder.Originally posted by pikamaster:alternative to what? laughter? yup, we have.
