If u get 6,7,8 A1s and 4 As, 4S papers distinction, will the university care if u come from JJC or YJC? Or even MI?
Besides, the only plus points about top jcs are only some cool classrooms and more ccas and some god know programmes, which hope to 'groom brighter and better' younger generations..it wont help if the students just ride on this and develop attitude problems, and turn themselves into social menace instead...
i'm from yjc, so i like to pick up this point..
i was from catholic high, i had quite normal l1r5 grades (12) but I chose to stay on because of the atmosphere there. The teachers work doubly hard for their students and also emphasise on character development. yjc has been perceived by many ppl as a bad ranked sch, because why? our gp. the teachers put in quite a lot of work, but somehow this gp grade-point average can't seem to improve, while other subjects are improving.
i do agree that to some ppl, yjc looks like a kampong sch, but like a kampong, ppl in yj n mi and srjc n many other lesser-ranked jcs tend to be closer bonded. I don't feel intimidated facing a teacher, and everybody, be it teachers, students, principal, vps and even the canteen stallholders and school attendants, are very friendly to each other.

yes, we may not have produced ppl like president scholars, but what's the deal? the chinese saying holds, "precocious kids dun mean successful adults"..
i would say the universities does not look at which school you are from, they will look at how you perform in your A's, and how you have contributed to the schools beforehand, your talents etc.
