if it has been in ST interactive it would have been in the main papers. You never read it doesnt not mean its not reported. Pls dun make this kind of baseless accusation against the press. I think its very unfair.Originally posted by goh meng seng:Thanks Paperchicken. At least it was up in the ST Interactive news! I was wondering how come they don't have it in Singapore main mass media; do they seriously think that they could effectively have news blockade in this modern era of information freedom via Internet?
But if it is in ST Interactive news and not on the main papers, it speaks volume of how news are being controlled in Singapore.

I heard the news on 98.7 on Monday evening, before the thread was even started. Now one overeaction is capitalized for another agenda. That is facking politics.Originally posted by Qitai:It looks like someone has an agenda here.![]()
First of all, I am in Hong Kong, there is no way I could listen to Singapore's radio. That is why I ask. I could only refer to news report via Internet.Originally posted by sgdiehard:I heard the news on 98.7 on Monday evening, before the thread was even started. Taiwan got so many press and TV stations but when ah bian got shoot in public nobody know. Up till now ppl still dun know the truth. So did their degree of openess help ? Their FM anyhow talk and was reported in the press but he still refuse to apologise. The free press always cooking up more stories.Originally posted by goh meng seng:First of all, I am in Hong Kong, there is no way I could listen to Singapore's radio. That is why I ask. Secondly, I am interested in making comparison in news reporting from HK, Taiwan as well as Singapore. It is not uncommon for differences to be found in reports from both sides. SIA bomb threat is being reported as headline news via the radio here. DBS HK blunder has been splashed all over HK media as headlines. Both SIA and DBS are the icons of Singapore, but apparently, there are people in Singapore like you, are not aware of the SIA incident. It could mean one thing, it did not make it as headline news. Reported in TV Prime news? I dunno. That is why I ask.
For the DBS HK blunder, HK was splashed with the news yesterday afternoon. When did you get the news? I dunno. But obviously, there is a time lag. News fly in the information age; a delay of more than 4 hours is unacceptable, especially when it concerns National interests like the National Icons. The Press release was done after 5 pm, I believe.
There are many ways of news reporting. How the news is being reported, how much of the news has been reported, when the news is being reported...etc etc. It demonstrates the level of "openness" and the speed of information flow within a system/country. If PM Lee is talking about "open society", then journalism in Singapore has to catch up.

Want to learn from Taiwan Parliament also ? Anything not happy fight it out. Like that we will truly be a free and open society.Originally posted by paperchicken:Taiwan got so many press and TV stations but when ah bian got shoot in public nobody know. Is that what you want in Singapore ?![]()
Reporting needs "openness", should not be contaminated, and should not be twisted to suit anybody's private agenda. Well, this post appears to be used by others for their own agenda. Damn, this is politics.Originally posted by goh meng seng:First of all, I am in Hong Kong, there is no way I could listen to Singapore's radio. That is why I ask.
