Fine-tuning Singapore's GRC Electoral System

You are right, EQUALITY MUST be maintained.... why those in SMC could only vote for 1 MP while those in GRC could vote for 5 or 6 MPs?
The original concept comes with the conclusion that with this modifications, we will scrap SMC altogether. Yes, we will have ALL GRC in Singapore.
Why do you think it is a bad idea when there are 20% people voting for him? These 20% of people do think it is a bad idea afterall! You mean to say that you have better judgment than the masses?
Even if 80% didn't vote for him, it doesn't mean he is bad. We should not subject ourselves to the tyranny rule of the majority. That's what "inclusive" society is all about.

Is the hidden agenda of Goh Meng Seng to change the system so that next time he can contest in the election with a team in GRC and get himself a place in the parliament ?

Hmm... maybe we can just have one big Singapore GRC and all the people of Singapore vote for say 50 seats. Then each 2% vote gets one seat.

Such simplistic thinking pattern. If such a system is set up, there will be more contestants like you who think it is a "dream job" to join in the fight.
So easy to get 20%? hahahaha... Even with such system in Hong Kong, people lost their deposits! And the basic requirement is for each list of contestants to get only a mere 3% of the votes inorder for them to keep their deposits, but they lost it!

It is possible, why not?
In Taiwan, the election system is divided into two; localized representation and National representation.
This means that on the localized front, each party provide their own list of candidates and fight for the restricted number of representations allocated to each respective township/constituncy. On the other hand, the individual party will also provide a "National" list of candidates whom will be allocated on the aggregate votes each party gets from the poll; there is a limit in the number of seats allocated to this "National representation".
This means that even if certain constituencies are not being contested, the voters there still could vote, to choose the National representatives.
It would mean that nobody would be left out in the electorate process; this is the true spirit of citizens taking ownership of the country, via voting.
