Well, when people see a cop wearing gear comparable to a soldier, the 1st thing that goes to their mind is that a shoot out is about to occur. It inturns lead to panic. The police here are only projecting their presence & not going into battle so wearing a beret somehow changes the profile of their purpose.Originally posted by SpecOps87:J

From time to time if your "lucky" enough, you may be tagged by people.
And you may be "lucky" enough to see a couple fights and people rooting around in trashcans for bottles.
And if your REALLY lucky you may see someone rubbed out like the unlucky feller who died going to 7-11 for a drink near the Old Sparks. -

As I have mentioned in a previous post.
The SOC has 3 components
1) PTF - Police Task Force
2) Dog Unit
3) S.T.A.R.
The STAR is a more elite and secretive "elities" they will usuallly not be deployed for such patrols.
The PTF is more likely.
Therefore it is also to be noted that the PTF still exist and not the "SOC, formerly called the Police Task Force" -

May be can look from another point of view.
Some Smart People do some productivity suggestion and noted that the SOC are doing just "training" everyday. Not fruitfully right!
Better employ them more fruitfully, by deploying them in Orchard.
