i understand where you are coming from....but it doesnt mean that us collectors have no pride in our collection. Although most can be bought comercially, some badges will require wheeling and dealing and lot of negotiation to acquire.Originally posted by palmerised:remember boys... earn it. not buy it.![]()

hahaha hey man relax it was just some mild advice. i mean, i've seen people go around with badges they bought and they sew it onto their shirts and wear it around whereever they wear and act like they are the real deal, which really pisses me off..Originally posted by react81:i understand where you are coming from....but it doesnt mean that us collectors have no pride in our collection. Its just a hobby like photography, or wakeboarding etc... Militaria colllection is a big industry overseas, with countless trade shows and conventions in the US
the seal blues are really nice.. i've met some 'encik' from the navy and he was wearing the winged-trident (or whatever you call it) above his awards.. real sweet...Originally posted by react81:

i have seen a scrawly little guy wore a desert bdu top sewn with ranger tab and dunno wat stuff....makes me laugh.Originally posted by palmerised:hahaha hey man relax it was just some mild advice. i mean, i've seen people go around with badges they bought and they sew it onto their shirts and wear it around whereever they wear and act like they are the real deal, which really pisses me off..
i admit that i used to collect the badges too as i find that they are really nice.. especially the unique ones that you don't get to see everyday.. bought some when i was younger, sas, sof, and the seal trident in olive drab patch but i've never worn them in plain view cause i didnt have the right to.
now i look back and just smile at what i have done and i do not hate those who collect the pins and badges. in fact i admire them as they have a great interest in military insignias.. it's always good to have a passion for something and cultivate the interest in it. well at least it's waaay better than those kids taking drugs or whatsoever. agree?
however i must say that i do get a little worked up over people who say things about themselves when they are not. at least give the real men the due respect that they deserve..
just my 2 cents. =]
