Alrite, Lt Speirs may be one of tose really cool & collected soldiers (not to mention a bit crazy), but it juz strikes me as to how some soldiers really came to enjoy war & combat where their lives can be ended at an instant. Ok, war is HELL but some soldiers actaully WANT to go to war. For example, US Rangers actually feel like they're useless and trained for nothing if they nv even got to engage in a real firefight in their tour of duty.
Is it good for soldiers to have tis mentality? Can it actually make them perform better under stress if they relish combat? Alrite, it is true tat some soldiers who bitch abt how much they wanna get into combat but end up peeing their pants once the bullets start flying, but lets put tat aside eh?

Certain cultures and soldiering have made men into war machines where war is part and parcel of life.

Think it is more of accepting the fact that you are a soldier, and just doing the best to stay alive to kick ass, is more important. Than you be on the ball and sharp . Good soldiers don't enjoy combat, they are never eager for combat, they know when to fight when to run. People who get eager for combat, generally in their eagerness get careless and not logical and die.
