Yes - there were chocolate bars in the old combat rations. We use to give them away to kids in villages during overseas training.

actually singaporean c-rations do have heat packs and chocolate - but only in the lrrp rations (saf nomenclature: "special field rations").
the heat packs are either the us army ones or some commerical korean brand while the chocolate is some weird, brandless "high melting-point" stuff (probably made by sfi from the looks of it). you probably wouldn't put it anywhere near your mouth except when outfield, in which case it tastes like heaven. -

The old rations had canned pork cubes, canned beans, pineapple jam, and stuff like that.
Old or new - most guys would supplement rations with some of their own personnal favourites. I brought mini cans of fruit cocktails in my SBO. -
Don't forget the fruitbars... the only problem is that the trash generated from your accesory pack is excessive... too bad the wrapers are not edible...
