chinook can but not in singapore. our CH-47SDs do not have the fuel portsOriginally posted by Paladin:Wish to know if the Chinook can conduct mid air refuel?
Anyone know?
That confirm what has been written in TH book, 10 CH-47SDs were ordered in the late 90s, prior to this , we have purchased 6 CH-47Ds in 94.Originally posted by touchstone_2000:I was wondering about that and looked up FAS

Just precisely how many were in Singapore, I suppose is a secret.
Yes the Chinook can land on the LST, provided the flight deck is completely cleared.
The Super Puma can land on half of the flight deck. Shown on TV.
chinook can be refuelled by KC-135R?Originally posted by martin_lim85:chinook can but not in singapore. our CH-47SDs do not have the fuel ports
U mean only our 47SDs do not have the capability to mid air refueling or RSAF didn't opt for it when purchasing the 47SDs?Originally posted by martin_lim85:chinook can but not in singapore. our CH-47SDs do not have the fuel ports
they dont have the boom probesOriginally posted by Paladin:U mean only our 47SDs do not have the capability to mid air refueling or RSAF didn't opt for it when purchasing the 47SDs?
The boom probes are found on the MH-47G.The equipment is very different..Originally posted by sidestep1984:they dont have the boom probes

Isn't there an option for 4 more? Have they been exercised?Originally posted by gary1910:That confirm what has been written in TH book, 10 CH-47SDs were ordered in the late 90s, prior to this , we have purchased 6 CH-47Ds in 94.
Since we are upgrading the older one to SD version, that mean we will have 16 CH-47SDs.
I think it would be great for our 47SD to come with air refueling cabablity.Originally posted by LazerLordz:The boom probes are found on the MH-47G.The equipment is very different..

I wouldn't specaulate as to what mods we have made to the RSAF CH47-SD but if we could place a inflight refuelling probe, it would greatly extend the range of our operations because the MH-47G can support operations with a 300-nm (555-km) radius.
I know RSAF operates the KC-135s but do they have any KC-130?Originally posted by eurofighter:Jus take a look at the MH-47 and our CH-47SD. What physical difference do you see? Of course the refuelling probe! Only the SF versions of the chinook are fitted with the probe.
Only a KC-130 is able to refuel these choppers. I believe the KC-135/KC-10 cant fly at that speed to refuel choppers.
