I stand corrected: It was a Today journalist (Tor Ching Li) who said we have 10 Chinooks. The ST article of TCH's New Year message thanking SAF troops was the one which mentioned half of the fleet has been deployed.
No, the 2 returning from Thailand didn't fly out to Sumatra, though both events took place on the same day.
The Super Pumas can refuel on the RSS Endurance now that some of the 51 vehicles on board have been offloaded to the beach. The Chinooks will do the same when more deck space is cleared, according to news reports. -

Jus take a look at the MH-47 and our CH-47SD. What physical difference do you see? Of course the refuelling probe! Only the SF versions of the chinook are fitted with the probe.
Only a KC-130 is able to refuel these choppers. I believe the KC-135/KC-10 cant fly at that speed to refuel choppers. -

I wouldn't specaulate as to what mods we have made to the RSAF CH47-SD but if we could place a inflight refuelling probe, it would greatly extend the range of our operations because the MH-47G can support operations with a 300-nm (555-km) radius. -

Correct me if I'm wrong..
From the globalsecurity.org website it stated that 47D's range is 230 nm and the 47SD has a operational range which is double of 47D.. making it a max. range of 460nm which is about a 850km..
With the refueling cabability RSAF's 47SD's range can well easily extend beyond 1000km...!
So who still say that RSN needs to get a LSD or LHD? I say we use the money to buy another 10 more 47SDs and still got spare cash for other purpose. In long run 10 47SDs is so much cheaper to maintain than a LSD or LHD... -

if not then I guess its useless even the 47SDs comes with mid air refueling capabilty liao... -
The KC-130s are supposed to hand the role over to the KC-135s
I think the USN also use the S-3 vikings to refuel the MH-53. Correct me if i'm wrong. -
