CPT Pandiaraj was the officer convicted recently for the death of 2SG Hu EnHuai.
I heard he is a legend in the Commando Unit. Anybody knows his story? -

There was a recent report in The NewPaper about CPT Pandiaraj.
The report mentioned about his peacekeeping operations in East Timor. CPT Pandiaraj promised his men that he would bring all of them back to Singapore alive and he did.
One of his former trainees also praised CPT Pandiaraj in the report.
The news also reported that CPT Pandiaraj also told a medical officer he would rather be paralysed than downgrade. -

Legend? Perhaps not. He is not a legend. He is instead an extremely good leader. He is charasmatic, a man of honour and always leads from the front.

According to The NewPaper report, CPT Pandiaraj seems to be an outstanding leader. His unit send him to OCS due to his outstanding performance as a specialist. He did not got special treatment when he was in OCS even though he was married with kids at that time. He stayed in with other cadets. He won the Sword of Honour even though he was injured and refused to downgrade during the course. -

anyways its a show of tenacity...mind over body...
surely he wasnt rude to the MO and say F you...i dont want a downgrade...
he probably have talked things through with the MO and measured the risks...
plus MOs tend to be understanding to career cases like him... -

pity cpt pandiraj...this dunking has been goin on for ages until it became a norm..than when someone dies... he became e scapegoat.... now everything under scrutiny already.... must follow e book, if not nobody wan to take e risk..those ppl always keng will take advantge and report sick, keng..etc...

That's why SAF emphasize on thinking soldier! Don't see monkey do and follow blindly! Dunking is a v dangerous act and Different people have different endurance! I'm not going to canonise Pandiaraj. He's a decent, hardworking bloke who's devoted to his family, and that's all I need to say about him on a personal basis. His service record speaks more loudly than any testimonial, and, regardless of this case, certainly shows him to be more of a man than a sideline been-nowhere done-nothing heckler like Moxie. -
my respect to the capt and the warrant officer, they are really outstanding guys in my opinion, just that both got sabo by the that pair of young punk officers...what a waste!

Blaming underlings? dont think its right.. underlings look to the leader to provide leadership and guidance, thats the meaning of leader...to lead
If the underlings do something dreadful, it means leadership was lacking -

Winning the sword of honour means nothing if you can't manage a training course properly.
US rangers attending the gruelling Ranger course don't get killed by their own.
