in the military field

  when u are out in the field (e.g. exercise, field-camp), other than those gears/equipment issued by SAF, what do u recommended to have/buy to better equipp yourself... because some of the "issued" gears are "crappy" or "not-fit-for-purpose"... Any constructive suggestions welcome! TIA

  change you pack to alice pack, can put more things + it more comfortable.

  Isn't it required that all men carry the same gear? As in SBO kit etc? Like always thought it would look rather messy if one guy is wearing something different in the field, sorta like a mercenary unit instead of a regular unit.

  those who come out the gear never really think for those who are using it in the field.
  
  I would rather my Coy look messy but effective on the mission than to look neat but uneffective.
  
  I am using my own gear back in active time and NS now. To "them" we are just numbers to show other dun come over.

  well 1 thing i wished for and i noe it will not happen is a proper map case for commanders to carry, something like a slingbag with flaps to view the map inside , find it kinda of lame to use a mapcase, squeeze my map inside and squeeze it into my left pocket during excercise ....so clumsy ..
  or at least a proper commanders backpack for the commanders, my unit commanders use to carry their own civilian backpacks, we have things from Umbro, to Deuter ..and some mixture of those neighbourhood shop cheap nylon bags ..haha
