We are in the JSF program not because we intend to shop American. In my opinion, I suspect it's more because there aren't any other fighter aircraft programmes in the same class as the JSF & F-22 that Singapore can join easily.
Besides the F-22 & JSF programmes, only Russia currently has active programmes into new stealthy fighter aircraft, namely, the Berkut & MiG 1.44 programmes.
Of all programmes mentioned, only the JSF can be called a truly multi-national programme as the F-22 is a US-only project at the moment and the Russian programmes are restricted to Russia (and some say China for financing).
